Not sure what your getting at exactly mate but the Fairlane with vertical headlights was probably a ZC or ZD perhaps?

I'm not going back to list from my dads first car (Austin A40) because I couldn't name all the actual models in order.

but from when I was born they had

XL Deluxe Falcon sedan
XP Ute
TC Cortina (mums Car)
XC Falcon 500 (Dads Car) not long after he got this my sisters got in to Horses
ZG Fairlane
P6 LTD
TF Cotina (mum got a new car)
VH SLE (the P6 was kept for tow duties)
Range Rover Sport (Dont ask ok just don't)

Then something went odd

Mum got a Mitsubishi Chalanger and dad got a 244 Volvo off a customer

Mums still got the challanger, but dad ended up selling the Volvo to anotehr customer, and he got a Dihatsu Cherade, then a VB (he went through a stage of not giving a toss)

Then out of the blue he rang me and said could you give me a lift over to Liverpool Ive just bought a AU Fairmont series III dont tell your mother (this was a big deal for a number of reasons, A he never did any thing with out consulting mum and B it was a new car (I had just taken delivery of my series 1 BA fairmont company car and this was an ex demo run out with less than 10,000 on the clock

he kept that up until he died in 2010

before I came along there was a mixed bag aside from the Austin A40's there were Zephers, (Mk I' II & III and even a Mk III Car he raced) Fiats, FJ's

Default Re: Parents Cars...

This is what I can remember from about 5yr old (1972). My parents would by a car (single car family) and drive it, Dad would fix it until there was nothing left worth doing to keep them going and give them up for scrap. They never had much coin, so a late model used car wasn't an option. I'm much the same, but have better taste in cars.

Austin A40 - I think
1956 Hillman
1966 Hillman
XL Falcon wagon (cheers Dad!)
1973 Hillman - lasted for years!
1992 Corolla - bought brand new.

Buggered if I know why the Hillman's. My Grandad swore by them, maybe that's why. I'm not a fan!

Cheers!

We were always a 1 car family...

Dads first car (after coming over in '75) was a KE20 corolla.

Fondest memory I have of it is all of us piling in and heading to lakes entrance along the old highway, about a 5 hour trip from memory, only to have a blue with a family member and drive all the way back that night

Traded it in a couple months after that road trip on this, an 81 Bluebird wagon

Dad loved that one, only traded it because rust was starting to develop, on this, an 89 Magna Elite wagon

This one became hated because it was (in thick polish accent) 'Make for lazy people! Too many electric!'

Dad had Fairlanes up until 2008. AU was the last model, and with the BA hardly changing he moved onto Holden Caprice. ATM he has a WM Holden Caprice with all the gear. Bloody nice car, on LPG, great cruiser. Looking to sell up soon though..

Mum had a Ford Probe back in the early '00s but now gets to use my G6ET now and then.

As far back as I know.

Dad had a Mk1 Corty, and mum tipped it over into a tomato farm when I was a baby. Neither her nor I were hurt. I was a baby, and this happened in '73
Dad purchased an XP.
I remember dad and I looking at cars in '76. I begged him to buy a new hotrod at the Ford dealer, an XB GS in green. I don't recall him doing the deal, or even bringing the car home, but we soon had a brown XY Fairy in the drive, alongside the XP.
The XP went and we became a single car family. In 82 we purchased an 18month old 200B and the old XY went. in 85 the 200B went for a G60 Patrol, which was my first car. It went in 88 for a LX Torry, then a 89 Pintara in 91.

In 2000 they purchased a 1998 Maxima. It was a great car, and at the time I had a 1998 Camry. The Maxy was way better. It spat an alternator about 2 weeks out of wtty, in a little town called Gin Gin. Cost 10 days and 2K to get mobile. Worked out it cost about $300 a week to own, so bizarrly expensive. If I am honest, they paid way too much for it.
Traded it on a 5th month 2002 BA, 16 months old, for 15k. Great car, put some AU1 XR6 wheels on it, and a wing. Congo green. They did about 150k on it in 2 1/2 years before mum pranged it for the second time, this time terminally.

Brought a BA II Futura in 04 which was a way better car. They did the same abnormally high number of k's in it before giving it to dads inlaws.

Purchased a demo Turbo Diesel Terri last year.1200 klms, Top of the range, to pull the new Van. Dad has never owned a new anything, pushbike, rollerskates, car, nothing. Till the van. I am nagging him to make his next car a newy, as it will likely be his last chance (66yo now). He gets all tight about spending his kids inheretance.

Dad started off with a Ford Cortina which only lasted a few months until the engine conked out.

Then he bought a Mazda 121 Coupe, brown, like this:

Which he also subsequently drove into the ground... Mum had to push it for him to get it started, and it died at the Ford dealership he was going to look at cars at. So, he drove home in his first Falcon, a white EAII Falcon GL wagon, white, 3.9L 4sp auto. They loved that car, and mum learnt to drive in it, with me in her belly

2003 it was time to freshen up, and Skip, the AUII Futura Wagon was bought. We've all loved Skip, and still do. Always has looked good, been the most reliable, comfortable and useful car we've owned! Now mine, it is the only car to have survived being owned by Dad!

And 2007 the EAII had been driven into the ground and was replaced by Dad's BAII XT Sedan.

And Feb this year, Skip was replaced as the family wagon/tow car by the 2004 R50 Pathfinder that stumbled across us with 24,000kms owned by a 92 year old.
