Default Can't beat the sound of a V8

I recently took delivery of an F6. Unfortunately it stopped after 2 days due to a faulty computer.

While the service department dealt with the problem the sales manager gave me his BA mk11 XR8 for the day. It didn't have the immediate urge of an F6 but at every opportunity I just couldn't help giving it some revs with the window down just to listen to that V8 exhaust music.

I'm not unhappy with my F6 but I sure miss the sound of a healthy V8! Yeah!!

Wow! Most people figure this out before they have hit high school! :nutsycuck But how good will you feel when you start leaving V8's at the lights in your 6.

"Maite, maite, maite... But my VN 6, it sounds like an 8, maite."

The F6 is an angry machine, but you just can't match the roar of a V8, can you?

Sorry, but in my opinion an F6 (or xr6t for that matter) with a nice aftermarket exhaust system and BOF sounds way better than any V8 imo.
Just has so much more revvy sound to it, unlike the boss that is all huff and puff up in the rev range.

Yeah, but stick a big solid cam in a clevo with a nice set of 3" pipes out the back.
Now thats how a V8 should sound.

I am a converted man. I now drive Turbos over 8's. No car imo sounds as good as a V8!! If I bought a car solely for sound, in my budget, would be a GT or XR8 with after market system!!!

Saw a Black BF Typhoon yesterday. The street he was on has office buildings around it so you get a nice echo of the cars exhaust. The typhoon sounded great especially under acceleration. But the GT that went through a few minutes later sounded so much nicer.

Nothing sounds better then a Clevo. As for the BOSS I have only ever heard one decent one around my way. Hurts my heart to say it but there are more nice sounding LS1's that I have heard. Now I'm running for cover.

I seem to remember a certain ad for the Monaro that had a nice note to it. :

You can't beat the sound of a cranky V8 on full song. At the drags, I've always reckoned the naturally aspirated Pro Stockers sound so tough. Not the loudest but definitely the sweetest.

Bit extra to pay for the sound though, don't ya think?

For the price difference, the Typhoon justifies the loss of the V8 noise, and most Typhoon owners will back that up

Yep nothing sounds as good as a V8.

My VL (N/A with 2 1/2 dumper) sounds nice and beefy, well for a 3.0L 6, but it will never ever have that V8 rumble.

There is a member here who has an xr6t, i have seen some video of it, it sounds tuff as, while it may not sound quite as good as a V8, it will eat one alive.
Pedro, you made a good choice.

Not on the subject of 8's, it seems there are more problems with the new fords then old ones. I read new posts everyday about someones new BA or something not working, starting, guages screwing up etc etc.

Yeah, because Holden have built plenty of cars that match the performance of the Typhoon. :

i should have clarified that a bit better
i meant ford 8's vs holden 8's

if i said fords turbo 6's vs holden 8's then yes, perhaps sarcasm would be appropriate :monkes: ......but the clubbie is close - .1 of a second or something over the 1/4 shy of the typhoon isnt it? which, if true, driver skill becomes heavily involved i guess...sorry, goin OT here....typhoon is a nice bit of kit, even w/out the v8 burble

I will gladly forego the extra push of the turbo 6 for the sound of the V8 (BF XR8) When my V8 has done 100,000 ks and is still hauling ***, I wonder what the turbo 6 will be doing?????
