Do you have trouble with opening the doors? if the battery is fine for that it should turn over. Check ur main battery has juice in it too.

Agree try locking and unlocking your doors. Does the motor turn over when you try to start or is it dead? Does your dash light up, lights turn on?
Congratulations on your purchase and pity that's happen to you on your 1st day. I'm sure all will work out well for you. enjoy your birthday.
Show up some pics of your Cougar when you can.
Cheers.

Congratulations FumDuk... would love to see pics of 'Kitty Jr?' when you get a chance to get her going.

In the meantime, let us know some specs about the car you ended up getting
I hope you resolve the issue though, I doubt the key battery is the problem if you're able to open the door, the problem is somewhere else...

Welcome to the club!

Dan

Nah, no trouble with unlocking the doors, I changed the battery in the key and its all working again... not sure what happened there...

I just got back from Vicroads and they told me the car was a right-off in 2005.

She's going again, but I'm kinda scared I'm in for more :S

I got this one but I paid $13,500 not $14,500

Interesting... looks lowered, and has a different exhaust tip?

Do you know what sort of damage the car received when it was written off? The grill looks white in the photos, and I noticed the gearknob is from an SW not an SX...

Looks neat though in the photos

I didn't realise it was lowered. Its the only one I've ever sat in :P
Some dick has taken the grill off and painted it silver, doesn't look too bad, but the paint is peeling off. I'll have to touch that bit up, dad told me about some mob in sydney that can chrome plastic, that may look cool.
As for when it was smashed, vic roads told me 2005, the repairs look pretty good. not a dint in the body
She drives bloody nice, and I still love er'
Headlights have a couple of hairline cracks in em, anyone know where I gan get some new ones? how much will they set me back? I'm guessing big bucks :S The ones that are in it are still ok i spose.
AND U CAN TILT THE HEADLIGHTS..... lol no one told me that. neat surprise :

I'm only guessing from the photos that it's lowered. Could be the angle from which the photo was taken... So the jury's still out

As for headlights, I've heard from a smash repairer (who installed my kit) that they had a Cougar in that had a front end smash, and new headlights were in excess of $600!

To be honest, the silver grill doesn't look too bad on the car, but if it's peeling, well, that's another story Ah yes, and the headlights are heigh adjustable, for what reason I don't know (Cougar's aren't recommended for towing)...

Glad you love er' though Let the fun begin hey!? Did you come down for Small Ford Sunday by the way?

Dan

Post some side-on pics because it does look lowered in the car sales site. Well all is ok so have fun!
How many numbers does that make......
Hang on I just look at those pics again, I don't think it's lowered. I reckon that grill looks good to.

G'day all,

I'm the new kid on the block with the hot red kitty kat:
http://picasaweb.google.com.au/toekn...ey=PBgz7_tMw8U

I dumped those old plates and now have my nick on the feline. Been a long time fan of the cougar. So it's even shweeter to finally own one. Seen a few pics of some kats on this forum, which gobsmacked me sideways. Would love to see them in reality, unfortunately not possible due to geographical challenges lol.

Any Sydney "fat-kats" out there give me a shout-out. Would be awesome to hear from ya.

Hmmm... definitely got the makings for an Aussie CougarFest!

I welcomed MTL10N in the other post, but welcome again! Whereabouts in the Sydney area are you?

Thanks for posting up the pics too.

FumDuk, aside from pcperfection, ProfessorSabre and myself, there aren't many Cougar's in Oz rocking around with different rims. Your best bet is to checkout www.cougardb.com and all your questions and inspirations will be answered.

However, the Australian rim range is extremely limited because of our stud pattern, but Tempe Tyres has a reasonable wheel selector thingo.

On that page these are the only wheels I would consider getting... not a big fan of chrome wheels

1st Choice

2nd Choice

Any excuse will do to post update pics of mine.
Cheers

Angelo - when did you remove the bonnet scoop!?
The only thing to tell ours apart from the front now is your grill!

That's a new bonnet. I still have the original bonnet with the grill attached. Just wanted a different look and it was cheaper to buy a new bonnet than it was to remove the scoop, fill the holes and respray :

The grill is new.

fellas,

Thanks for the welcome all. Feels good to be joining kitty enthusiasts. I have 2 mates that both drive supras, naturally belonging to the supra forums. They're just absolutely bonkers over their toyotas...and now I understand lol. I've never been a car-nut...but there's always room for improvement. Even my gf has started to appreciate/admire the cats when spotted about.

Angelo - mods for the future? definitely...just a matter of moolah plus I don't want to stray too far away from the original appearance. Wouldn't you agree that you can't improve much on 'purrrfection' haha!

Dan - Yer the ride is as awesome as can be. As for details, everything is pretty much stock, apart from changing the head unit to some standard Alpine one. I usually prowl 'round the Parramatta area. I've never seen any of you guys (Syd ones) around my usual hunting grounds. Whereabouts do the rest of you Syd guys like to tuck your kittys to sleep? pcperfection...that pic above with you parked on that boat ramp seems very familiar...??? some national park?

Geez...all your kats are really dark-coloured. Very sleek, mysterious and cunning i must say. But c'mon, we all know ferrari-red-coloured cars always goes faster! bwahaha jk. I'm thinking of changing colours in the next year or so. May get bored with the Rio Red. Any suggestions? And please, keep the bias to a minimum if you can guys lol. I haven't seen any colours for cougars that really stand out and grab your attention.

Forgive for the rambling above. At this rate, all I’ll be doing all day is scouting around this site and not get any work done lol. Time well spent I reckons.
