Thumbs up MONDEO TV Ad GREAT!!!

I saw the new tv ad tonight, much better than the old one. Clever how the German Shepherd barks changes to cd !! Is the German Shepherd to represent its european origins? Mondy's are Belgium made.

Much better ad but suprised they didn't even mention the new wagon.

I'm still a bit worried who they are trying to market this car to? Seems they are are marketing this to independant working females? Perhaps since the Falcon is more of a blokes car.

I still think they would be better off trying to promote this as a family car but the Territory has this market. This will always be Mondeo's marketing problem in Australia, since Ford has other models very close to it.

lol what a joke in real life if the dog barked the response would be "Function Please" bark, bark, "Command Cancel" as no one in my family nor at the dealership can get the CD function to work refuses to answer so I told her to get "$#%" they haven't got a clue how to fix it :

Yeh the voice control is a bit iffy sometimes! One of my first attempts of calling a number, it started dialling 000. No joke!

Only use the voice control to change radio stations and to sometime dial a name stored in the system.

I've never tried the CD function, as I find it easier to press the number for the CD I want from the presets. She's not too good with my accent, so I try not to confuse her too much.

While I think the ad is a step up from the old one, I still think it's stupid and misses the mark completely. The only thing they seem to be pushing is the blue tooth and that's already becoming standard on lot's of the competition anyway.

To me it just seems like their marketing the car to vapid chicks with smart dogs. Afraid Ford marketing and their ad agency have stuffed up again.

Hate the ad

The bluetooth to me is just a hands phone car kit.

Sure the other stuff it does is nice, but to turn the climate down/up, it's quicker to use your hand, same with the radio. I use burnt MP3 CDs, and I think that might be a bit too much of a challenge for it, so I don't really use it much more than to answer and make calls. My missus never uses it.

I am still a bit miffed that you can't use the 'OK' button to flick between AM and FM. That's probably the only other time I use the HMI to tell it to change stations.

Dusty mate its those technical issues that they cannot fix although like these ads its those things they are pushing as they did when I got the car I will be telling them at the 15000km service if they don't fix it I will not be upgrading through them........ p.r.i.c.k.s

Its not the XR5, its the new Titanium model that is featured in the add. Basically an XR5 with the 4cyl petrol or diesel and auto trans.

Then why when you get it wrong the voice list the commands and she says "CD" and if it's a GPS function I'm not surprised as the UK model has GPS so maybe ours have the firmware in already!

There must be an update for MB model cause mine doesn't say "CD". Do Ford actually update the firmware for the voice control anyway?

On YouTube, its the most viewed Ford ad by far, compaired to the other recent Aus Ford "Ford of course" ads.

I personally don't think too much of the ad although I am happy to see Ford trying to promote the Mondeo.

The ad is probably trying to convey a message about useful technology. I also think that Ford may be trying to make the car appealing to female buyers potentially?

Interestingly, my wife doesn't like driving anything bigger than a Corolla. She admits that she is interested in driving my Mondeo. That may be an indication of why Ford portraits a female driver in the ad.

Just hope that the ad is doing a good job in promoting the car... My opinion on the ad doesn't count as I bought my Mondeo without watching the ad.

Agreed, its good to see that Ford are actually advertising the mondeo, as its better than them doing nothing.

On the subject of adds. Did anyone see the new one for Commodore? They were comparing the fuel economy of the new Commodore with a 4cyl Mondeo. It strikes me as being a little odd, considering Falcon has always been Commodores biggest competitor. Why now would they start to compare Commodore with Mondeo?

I think the whole point is to say that their new V6 engine is more fuel efficient that a smaller 4 cylinder. 9.5 for Mondeo, 9.3 for Commodore.

Should Ford Australia be worried if Holden now see the Mondeo as it's main rival?

Mondeo, Holdens main rival? I don't think so. I think its a compliment that they put the Mondeo in the latest ad but the sales figures are no where near Commodore to be a rival. The ad was merely showing that the new V6 engine is more fuel efficient that a 4 cyclinder car.
