Default BA Xr8 or AU Tickford 17 Inch Rims on a AU

Hi all,

You can see my car by my signature, and as the heading states, im after a few pics of these rims on a AU. 17 Inch Please...

I would prefer to see it on a "Sparkling Burgendy (B5)" Colour, but i'll take what i can get.

Im deciding between the two, there is a bit of a price difference, but im after the look.

Post your pics if you can.

Tickford 17's IMO are one of the most beautiful rims Ford has ever made.

I still don't understand why guys get rid of them. I spose they just want a change, or have subscribed to the "Bigger is better" philosophy! LOL!

All the best with your decision.

The Tickford rims are really nice but 17" in my opinion is too small. If they were in 18" or 19" I'd be so much happier. They're a pretty cool looking rim.

definately the tickford rims are the pick. I havent seen BA rims on an AU and liked it yet.

If 17s arent big enough for you, go T3 TS50 5 spokes - theyre a damn nice rim.

I think the Tickford rims are nicer than those other ones up in post 5. There's another set of BA rims which would look better. I'll try and find a pic.

I love the Au Xr Series 1 wheels but i beleive they should stay with series 1 Au's.Ive got series 2 wheels on my Au.Im happy with 17's being big enough for me.Il never forget the day i ditched the 16' steelies and drove out of the shop with 17's,it was like someone had poured superglue allover the road.

They are the same offset, so i don't know why that would be the case. Check with a wheel outlet to make sure, but to my knowledge the AU & BA/BF are the same offset so there should be no problems. The EL and earlier are different though. The only thing i could think of which wouldn't even be a concern would be the rolling diameter, and i'm pretty sure that'd be fine too.

Yeah, Im looking at getting them re-polished and a couple of gutter rubs (previous owner) out of em, then if I get bored with the 19"s I will change em around for a bit of variety... Sorry..

I'll give you the hot tip though, you can get a brand new set from Wheel King in Melbourne for pretty cheap..

Yeah they are a fairly good place, but $1700 for the set it more than i would pay.

I think i'll keep my eyes open on ebay

They are the AU T3 TS50 rim's and they should be 18in, I personally prefer the Tickford's rim's but not the series I rim's the series II/III ones.

I considered getting the AU1 Tickford 17s on mine, and I still think they're a great looking wheel, but I actually ended up putting 17s off a BA Fairmont Ghia (series 1 I think) cos I got them very cheap off eBay. 430 bucks with really good tyres! Anyway, I'm really happy I reckon they look classy but I guess it depends on the look you're after, the Tickfords are certainly a bit sportier. Good luck!
