Has anyone tried plastic welding the lower grill.
I am dreaming up an idea with the lower grill, it would require a flat plate at rear of grill and strong welding

It will work until the next time you scrape or hit the bumper too hard.
Which in my taxis is the next day...I prefer pop rivets and zip ties. |

Maybe I need to clarify my plan/dream.
i hope to cut 2 circular holes each side of black lower grill, then glue/weld whatever a horizontal plate on inside to hold a 7" driving light poking through. the plate may need to be braced vertically, fine I figure plastic welding would be a lot stronger than gluing.

paintshop is not one of my friends but this gives an idea.
I currently have a lightbar sitting just above the grill and it looks carp so thought this might be an idea.

I had a car with spotties on those cheap number plate brackets, and I found they shook too much on anything but the smoothest new road...I think they really need to be mounted to a solid place like the steel crossmember. The black grill is only held in by clips.
I have seen people put a light bar inside the top grill....a solid mount to the steel crossmember or maybe the hard plastic...not sure how the light looks with the grill and Ford badge across it? Or if there are cooling issues? |

thanks mate, I was having a poo peep again and hopefully I can mount a metal bar in front of radiator yet still behind lower grill, mount lights to that bar and cut appropriate holes in said grill.
Will be in Adelaide soon, so chat to my Favorited dismantler people and get their view.

So long as the metal bar is fixed to a solid bit and not the plastic grill it should be OK.
Another thing is the lower down they are, it seems the more chance of getting hit by a rock...have busted several XR6 type foglights...one was by a bloody bird! |
