Default Helmets

Im in the process of looking for a new helmet for track days and on the bike, anyone know of a place that can cut a good deal?

also, can anyone recommend a good place to look at a range of different helmets on-line WITH prices?

Cheers
Dave

Try here Dave http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/

Not a bad shop, can be pricey and have the top level stuff but it's your head you have to look after!

Jesus! No way.

I have a pristine Bell Mag 5 at home that I could easily sell second hand on Ebay. The problem is that it was involved in an accident. The driver (they had borrowed it from me) and passenger clonked heads (helmets) and lost consciousness for a few second (concussion on one of them).

The padding still looks fine. The helmet looks fine – I know that it’s had a knock where the shock went through the padding and knocked someone out. But would you know that if I was selling it to you second hand?

www.bikebiz.com.au/shop/enter
www.mcas.com.au

Helmet Warehouse down in Yagoona has the cheapest helmets you will find. Though I bought my Shoei from BikeBiz as they will negotiate if you try - Thin I ended up getting the marked price of $600 down to $450 with a free iridium visor (normally an extra $100).

EDIT - yep as previously mentioned NEVER buy a used helmet.

I was in the same situation nearly a year ago. I went to Revolution and they had some good cheap helmets there with all the safety approvals (except FIA) for around the $300 mark. Trouble is my head was too big and fat for the helmet. The helmet in the next range started at over $800!!! Since I didn't need FIA approval etc the guy (who knew I just needed it for car club track days etc) suggested I go to Peter Stevens motorcycles, telling me they had great deals going.

I finished up with a Shoei TZ-1 for $450, marked down from $600.

Same goes for full harness or any type of seat belt. If they've been in a prang and been stretched, they can break if stretched again.
I saw a guy killed in private practice ay Oran Park in the 70's when he hit the wall head on and was using a 2nd hand harness which broke.
