Default Just watched Hostel

Also posted this in LS1 since i just had to warn both camps.
Ok I just came back from watching Hostel. All I can say is IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO SEE HEAPS OF DISTURBING IMAGES, THEN DON’T WATCH IT!. That movie made stomach/chest contract (like vomiting except nothing comin out) TWICE. One of my mates after seeing one of the images just couldn’t take it and had to sit up abit. The first half of the movie is good….close to porn if you ask me… If Tarantino cut the last half out, then that definitely would’ve been a good movie, but once the disturbing stuff kicks in, man, you’re left leaving the cinema in a totally opposite way as when the film started. A very disturbing film indeed

lmfao i loved the gore!!!! My lady friend and i thought i was soo funny. we were the only ones in the cinema that was laughing tho...... didnt think much of the first half, euro porn, seen that, but the second half was cool enough. It was worth the 6.50 i paid to get in. But im a little strange, thats all. just my opinion....

I agree, a movies a movie, but while watchin this film (and mostly any other film for that matter), i felt for the guys... especially for the last dude, i was with him every minute. And yeh, that chainsaw idiot was funny lol. As for the japanese chick and her eye...that white stuff just looked abit fake, but it added to the gore.
After the film my mates were wondering wether or not there could be such a place. I told em that every concept has a matter of truth in it, and some agreed... any of u guys agree? lol
And who saw the trailer for 'when a stranger calls' about the babysitter getting calls all the time. Thats a movie im more into, less violence and gore, and more of the scary stuff.

Friend and I cheered when he floored it and rammed the two girls and that douchebag kid from the start as he is escaping, and the chase car running over the brunette was the icing on the cake; the movie definitely wouldn't wear the 'Scurby Seal of Approval'.

Apparently they didn't even in film it in the place it was 'set' in, and I heard somewhere that they got in a bit of trouble for portraying it as such a bad place when it apparently isn't. It's got me thinking twice about going to random European villages in future :P

I cringed when the japanese chick had her eye removed, but never looked away.

I loved Hostel. Would definately go see it again. Waiting for a few of the boys to say they're going in to see it so I can head down for an encore viewing.

One thing leaves me feeling a bit weak at the stomach though. Since when have movie tickets been $15? I haven't been to the cinemas in ages. That sucked.

Cube series was great, especially for a small budget film.

If Hostel disturbs you, then don't go and see WOLFCREEK.

So what you're trying to say is that Wolfcreek is better? Anyone wish to offer their opinions on this?

wolf creek was severly overrated!!! it wasnt the least bit gory, let alone scary!! i was highly disappointed with wolf creek.

i think the only part i found good about the movie was the quote "ahh sydney. the poofter capital of australia"

Hostel was cool, if a little violent. I must admit that I did cringe a few times, especially with the Japanese chick getting torched.

One thing that i don't understand...why did old mate go back to get her....she was a lost cause.

He heard her screaming and wasn't to know what was happening or how long it had been happening for. He just knew that someone else was in the same position that he had just moments ago been in, and he decided he'd try to save them. Foolish to run back in, but keep in mind that he did have the gun, so he had an advantage.

The scene that made me cringe the most, and well, the only one I really cringed at... was when that guy got his achilles tendons slit and tried to walk. The crack noise and his ankles cracking open when he falls, ouchie x 1000!

Yeah it was somewhat gory.

The Italian chick was hot.

Stuff that is too gory, i find a bit too comical. I thought Wolf Creek was a much more intense movie. I enjoyed the first Saw movie more as well, havent seen Saw 2 yet...

I love Quentin Tarantino stuff anyway, was a good way to kill a couple of hours.

I'd have to disagree, tho everyone has their own opinions, so mine could be wrong. I believe the reason he went back was because the screaming was bringing back dejavu...remember when he was telling one of his mates how he knew he couldve saved a girl in the beach when he was young, then next thing you know he hears a scream of a woman. I believe this is what made him go back, cus he knew that he CAN do more, and that he doesn't wanna feel guilty for a similar situation all over again.

This is most pleasing to mine ears... i love horror and gore movies and was hoping this wasnt going to be another p*ssweak effort.

Going my some of the reactions here, sounds like must see viewing!

Last decent horror movies i saw (a bit lacking in gore) were house of 1000 corpses and to a lesser extent the devils rejects (sequel). Perfect match of suspense, needless violence and guys in clown costumes! And his wife is hot...

Thanks for the tip tho guys, will go see this ASAP!

Sounds like a comedy to me... Or maybe I'm just weird.
Could someone give me a run down on the plot... All I've got is porn and gore so far...
So, it's like BDSM... just on a more extreme scale?

Oh wow, I completely forgot about that bit. Now that you've mentioned it, I agree with you 100%. Although I think the suggestion I gave may have played a part in his actions aswell.

The drowning girl completely slipped my mind. Well done.
