Given the distance from Adelaide to Bathurst, I am trying to decide which car of mine I should drive over this year. Do I go classic, or do I take comfort? I tried to create a poll, but couldnt work it out. The cars that I own are:
2009 Volkswagon Jetta - posh as, every option but an ensuite 2008 Mazda 3 - comfortable, but not overwhelming 1978 XC - great 351 grunt 1977 LTD - classic cruise I change my mind daily, and it is driving my wife nuts - Thoughts??

More to the point, which one do you feel safer driving (in case you hit a kangaroo on the way over?)

Go the XC if you've got the cash for fuel.

The XC 351. I can't believe there's even other options. Are you going to Bathurst or a bakesale?

Thanks guys/gals. Well if the forecast is ok, as in not much/not any rain, then the XC is it. If it looks as though it is gonna bucket down, like it has a number of times, then I will look at one of my other non classic options.

I have done the trip from Adelaide to Bathurst 8 times over the years for the big race in all manner of different cars. XY GS, HQ ute (3 up!), XB Wagon, XF Wagon and ED Wagon. I'd have to say, nothing beats being at Bathurst in a classic Ford, but 1200km in one day is definitely something that is best done in comfort and with cruise control!

I have a spare seat. I stay at a property right on Cat corner, just below the hill. Awesome spot, and a killer weekend.

Id take the one i had No emotional attatchment to, as coming out to a damaged car can be heartbreaking!!! As i did on my recent holiday, no worring about potential damage, having to drive around and around until an appropriate park can be found etc. Just a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, and on the way back home, the anticipation of firing up 6 boosted cylinders on arrival my garage.

We have taken the XY down the last 2 years and have had no problems at all. Just alot of people stopping to take photos and talk about it. Parked out on the street for 4 nights! Take the XC I reckon.
