Hey guys was just wondering what my EF II Ghia is worth.
Got it up on carsales for $4900 with Reg and RWC but would be happy with $4500 ( I put it up at $4900 to deter timewasters, as I was getting ridiculuosly low offers (like under 3k) with no genuine interest at $4500). The car is mint and in far better condition than average. It's significantally cheaper (than the other 3 on carsales that all sold) as I planned to sell it quick but really after a week haven't had any genuine interest. That's what I don't get, there were ones with no RWC all in worn out condition that sold for $4500 minumum. Yet nobody has actually come and looked at the car. Any ideas on what's putting people off?? Maybe because it's the only one on carsales now (in VIC)?? I seriously don't understand why it hasn't sold since the others have, must be something I''m doing... Any ideas? This is the ad: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=11230830&__Qpb=1&Cr=1&__Ns=pCar_Ran kSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make _String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216% 201246%201247%201252%201282%204294966463%204294966 280%20903%204294932595%204294950692&SearchAction=N &silo=1011&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=2 &__sid=130824F2C1E9

How do you know the others definitely sold for $4500 and werent just taken down?
I'd say its over priced personally. I struggled to sell a similar condition EF Fairmont V8 for $3k a few months back. Only had 2 calls over 3 weeks. Less than a month worth of reg isn't worth much. Try adding the word falcon to the ad so it gets more hits from the search function. Do a search for all vehicles for under $5k to see what your up against. I see some BA's in there with lower K's than your car which cant help. Good luck.

1. You need to be more patient. One week with no calls and you are anxious. Selling a car takes time mate. My Fairlane took around 7 monts to sell and the G6ET around 3 months.
2. Your pictures do not really show the car off too well. They were taken at night in the garage!!! Better pictures in the sunlight would help 3. I feel it is a tad overpriced. $5k can put you into an AU Ghia. |

Yep .... too dear. I bought a mint ..... and I do say mint DF LTD on gas 5.0 for $4000.00. Had it for about 4 months now and one of the best cars I have had. Also looking for another daily similar to yours but wouldn't pay that much. Probably around $3500 ish as it is not on gas ..... but that is just me on that one. Also the photos are not good for a high end priced car (I know 4k isn't high end but in the scheme of things it is)
Dont fall for the "Same price as everyone else on carsales" either. If they are still on car sales they haven't sold (too dear?) and if they disappear you do not know what price they eventually sold for. Hate selling cars!

Yeah I bought it for 4k a year ago no RWC.
Problem is I originally planned to keep the car and have since owning it spent over $1500 ( and that's DIY work), every part I could think of I've replaced/upgraded (nolathane bushes and stuff). I also paid for 2 separate RWC's on top of that. I'm also selling it so I can buy a boat so I can get out there this season, so I am wanting to sell quick and it's probably evident as I've edited the carsales ad every 3 days on average. Kind've over the eagerness of a quick sale after waiting a week, I'm kind've aiming within 2 months now. I bought it with the intention to put it on gas until I found a simple Impco style kit is now $1300+ after rebate (I paid $600 for one 2yrs ago) as the rebate's dropped, so I just bought an EB mont already on gas for a cheaper price than the conversion . I know I need better photo's, I only have an iphone as a camera unfortunately and need to take the pictures in daylight. I'd let the car go for $4k ($3800 would be the lowest I'd dream of going). With the existing reg (no RWC). I was originally expecting around $4500 with the RWC, which now seems too high I guess, seems these cars have dropped in value a fair bit over the last year? Regarding the price I put it up there for $4900 expecting to get knocked to around $4500, I'm definitely not expecting to get $4900 for it, just when I had it at $4500 everyone offered me $3k-4k with the RWC, so I raised it to avoid the tyrekickers. Had it's last RWC only 5 months ago and only needs 2 tyres perhaps I'd be better off advertising this and selling it for $4k? So should I put it up at $4200 expecting 4k for it? I keep changing the ad, not sure whether to sell it with or without a RWC? Might help avoid the tyre kickers at least? I've never sold a car though, how much of the price should I expect to be knocked off by the buyer?? So many questions sorry, I really wish I had experience in this, might just have to wait longer haha.

That's the problem if you want a quick sale.. You have to accept those lower offers. Had my turbo terry for sale for 26900, and the only serious offer i got was 23k. If i didn't owe 29k on it, and it was paid off i would have accepted 23k. However, i couldn't justify pulling 6k from my savings to pay it out, so i am keeping it.
Also, it's probably over priced a bit mate. Realistically, i'd have it on there for $4000-4500 with the intention of selling it for about $3500. Will $1000 really make a massive difference if it's a quick sale that you're after? Would you rather it sit on carsales for months on end, or get the cash? As an example, i have my BA futura with low kms for sale at $9900, i'd probably accept $8500 if some one rocked up with the cash! If i wanted a really quick sale, i'd advertise it at $8900 and accept $8000.. The other thing is, for not much more, you can pick up a good BA these days with half the kms... |

A yard would sell it for that, sadly private sales are a lot less.

Hey mate,
Just something to help you go off, I had an EF (be-it a GLI only) but i converted it to power windows, custom interior, xr6 engine, manual, 17s lowered, full exhaust, xr6 ecu, full sound system, Saphire seats. And i was lucky as i sold it to a young p plater for 4k. That was after replacing the windscreen and new ball joints. (I spent about 6-7k on that car). Mind you that was nearly 3 years ago aswell. so would be worth half that again. I personally would pay about 3-3.5k max for yours. I managed to buy a mint 99 AU fairlane Ghia V8 for $7k 3 years ago. Unfortunately they are only worth what someone is willing to pay! |

Sorry to say but you overpaid by at least a grand and unless you want to take a 1500 loss you may not sell it for a long while.
They are going for less than 3000 in wa and the car pirces here are high. |
