Default strut update

Possibly wrong forum but more members looking at posts. I own a 1993 Ford Telstar and want to put the front struts from a much later Mazda6 in my car. Are there any solid reasons for why I should not do this? Looking at the 2 struts, they are almost identical. Please be specific if you think I should not do this.

Valving & damping might be different due to weight differences between the two vehicles. Can you get a suspension place to cross check part numbers (see if there the same ???)
