Were you always a Ford man? curious?

Funny how things turn out isn't it...
As a young kid I was a holden fan, probably because my dad had them, my cousins loved them, etc... monkey see, monkey do...

My first car was a HG monaro! I sold it for $400 cause the gearbox was playing up!

then I saw the light!
when I was 18, I got a job in a factory on a production line, but got picked up every morning for about 2 years by one of the managers who had his own car allowance and car spot out the front!

And his everyday car was an orange (sunraysia?) PH1 XW HO...four speed.
Great guy, great memories ... no looking back ....ever!

Yeah was a holden fan at a young age too, old man and grandad were Holden guys, being 10 and very easily influenced i saw Skaife dominating in the V8s and naturally followed him, met him at Indy one year and he completely barred me off, being only a kid that turned me off him and Holden forever as i got into my teens started following Lowndes with his switch to ford then Ambrose..haven't looked back since.

My first car was a Morris 1100. But driven FORDS since 1988, not sure why, just got a good run out of the nothing to **** me off. I had a VK and it dropped a valve in the first week, could be the reason I am sticking with FORD.

Always been a Ford guy cos of my dad. He only switched from Holden because he got an employee discount from a relative. Thank god for that!

all my life "Ford" has been "the" car.

some of my earliest memories are of dad`s maroon `55 customline. or the `61 F600 log truck, or the 4X4 Ford Blitz crane, or pretend driving around the country in the `48 Ford deluxe parked up the backyard after the customline joined the family. Dad had owned fords from his first car which was an "A model" that had been cut down into a ute.

just to finish me off when i was a young fella getting my licence and buying my first car , my big brother bought a XW GT that i got to drive a lot .

every car i have owned has been a Ford Falcon.

i am not a fanatical Ford fan, i appreciate all makes but i just like driving fords. and it makes it easier to put **** on holden drivers when you drive a Ford just for laughs of course.

Dad worked at Ford for 36 years - Bathurst was a ritual back then, it was so important to the company. Pity about V8 Jokercars.....

I'm pure Ford fan, it offends me more when people diss Ford over my football club, and bathurst is like the grand-finale. My family really had no interest in car's but i loved them ever since i was young, i remember collecting hotwheel's, and conducting bathurst on the carpet (and i made them do 161 laps lol), Ford always won :P.

Also the old man had an EA, it was a shocker, but i loved it too.

when i moved to Oz in the early 80's i was a holden fan as i thought they were tyhe truly Australian brand whereas Ford were global. grew up fancying a LE Monaro. i went to school with a guy whose grandad owned an XD V8...that was it. fell in love with XD. but grew up with Capris and RS2000s, so gradually saw the light. would still like an LE though.

Holden until about 10 years old. Realised everyone else was a holden fan so to be different I went with fords. Great decision and havent looked back

I've had a 14 of them. Some brilliant, V8 Fairlanes, the TS50, some ordinary XW 221 before they were cool, a 2.0 TC Cortina, and an EA 3.9 single point injected arguably the greatest bucket of ***** god put pistons in..

I'm also a car guy and can appreciate other brands and the bits that make them good. So whilst my toys will always be ford, daily drivers may stray if the can better the blue oval. but the do have a home ground advantage all things being equal.

I live in an Australian car family. We dislike Southern Cross stickers and tattoos.
We choose Australian because for the price, you cannot get a vehicle with the engine, space and safety that is European or Japanese. That, and we also prefer rear wheel drive.

We also like to support local industry.

I loved Fords as a kid due to riding in the XF Wagon all over the place. Longest trip was Queensland back in 1990. Also went to Mildura, Halls Gap a few times, Eildon about a billion times, Swan Hill, Moama and Echuca, and also Lakes Entrance...
The only vehicle that could fit three little **** kids in the back seat on a long trip with nothing to look at on the side of the road but cows, sheep and fences. Great memories.

THEN around 1998 I started paying a little attention to the V8s, and decided to prefer Holden due to peer pressure. Getting the VTII in 2000 probably helped that.

Then around 2005 a friend of mine showed me a couple of genuine XY GTs that her father was looking to purchase (also had an XR project in his shed), and I thought, 'Wow, those cars look funking sweet', and from there I gained a massive appreciation of the XR-C Falcons.

I joined these forums to learn more about Fords and cars in general and in the almost four years I've been here, I have learned a little, and have been socially conditioned to fit in better.

I have also learned how to appreciate all cars more, rather than carry a Ford-Vs-Rest one.

So no, I was not always a Ford 'man'.

Always been ford although my current choice was weird. My family has had fords as long as I remember, I remember getting a 6 seater XE Station Wagon in 89, then in 00 mum got an EL Wagon and gave me the XE as my first car. I had the XE for a few years, did some mods, then got an EA, then the ED. My mums partner in 00 had an EF Station Wagon and my Old man had an EL wagon. Mum now has a FG XR6. So you could say have been around fords a long time. Can't wait to get to Perth this weekend as I conned her into using my Camry whilst I drive the XR6

A life defining moment...... 17yo in the backseat of a Polar White top loadered XAGT Coupe when he filled up a street.... Basically drifted towards Fords as they could drop a bloody decent skid and not break... How childish and immature..... Hahahahaha....

Not really a ford man, the car i really liked the look of is my el xr8 2 with full body kit, so i got it, now seeing all these young **** heads in commodores with no springs in the back really confirms my desicion.
Though the new SS wagons look pretty cool with some nice wheels and slightly lowered suspension

Grew up with Chrysler (Mum had a charger and Dad had VH 4 door), when I got my First car got into Holdens, thought Skaifey was the ****. Had plenty of friends with imports which I liked, But about a year after my mum died and I was still living at home and was looking at a new car with a V8 the old man told me if I bought another Holden I wasn't welcome home so looked at some Ford V8's and bought an AU XR8 in Dec 2002 and have been buying Fords ever since. If I was to get another V8 it would be Holden but going to look outside of the domestics next time.....

I was a holden fan from the start, loved them, owned a VK as my first car, thought it was the bees knees. Then reality set in, bad fuel consumption, oil leaks, horrible steering etc etc.

Went about finding another car after only a year, looked at many VT's, VX's, and even some dirt cheap VY's (bad condition mind you) however I wanted a calias and nothing was in my price range.

After a couple of weeks a friend of mine took me down to the ford dealership saying 'trust me' as I gave him the usual spiel about what ford stands for etc.... until I found my current pride and joy. The dealer asked what my budget was and said that he had a car for me that had JUST been traded in.

AU Fairmont Ghia, 162kxxx, 1 owner from new, black leather interior with woodgrain and chrome everywhere, power seats, climate control (and the list went on). I couldn't believe it, and after a test drive, I couldn't say no. It was a better price and had more options than any of the commodores I had looked at. Best part was it went like bat out of hell compared to the VK, I was sold I've only had eyes for fords ever since.

Edit: I do also have to thank Mr Hardware for taking me for a strap in his AU when he first got it, before I even owned a car, to me it was the fastest car around!

First Car was a Ford - but I was always a Chrysler Man.
The lazy power (read low down Torque) was what got me.
With no Chryslers on the 6 Cyl Sedan market in the 90s, I went for the one with the Low down Torque, and got hooked.
