Hi guys, I'm looking at buying an El futura and I was wondering how hard and if anybody has put an au engine into an El??
I've seen a few threads on here doing something seemler! Is it more then just a little modifying the stump? Will the au engine plug into the El wiring????? Any help well be awesome thanks guys Ben

not 100% sure but i believe its pritty much a straight bolt in, though im not sure of any advantages as they both made the same power, had the same specs really. unless its a VCT

If you cut and modify the sump everything will bolt up. Most people use the original manifold as AU had different plugs and loom locations.
Its a better motor than the EL, it revs cleaner due to the shorter skirt piston design, the cross bolted sump and mini girdle help with the crank walk when revs rise. As do the larger main tunnel.

ef/el need sump modified, ea-ed only require the casting marks to be grinded off. Put ya dizzy in; I read the au has a dummy shaft you need to take out (replace the gear on the dizzy with the gear on the dummy shaft to ensure you don't destroy you aux shaft).
You need to modify the ac brackets too I think. The tutorial also says to use EF/EL belt accesories, what's the reason for not using au?

regarding the Ac bracket the block may be actually a tiny bit different. I remember having to use a spacer on my AC delete pulley and it went straight onto a EF block.
