I grew up in an era where BMW made some of the best looking and best driving cars in the world.
The E46 M3 is a particular favorite of mine. And now we have this hideous looking thing. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING! And to think people thought the AU Forté had a grotesque grill.

In M3/4 form, the front looks less horrid to a point that I don't mind it.
It's like they designed the cars from the M models back.

Agreed its not a looker from the front but I think the back of them will be the view most of us will be seeing

They are not pretty.
https://abload.de/img/x7bfocu8.jpg And here some spy photos of the year 2025 model: https://66.media.tumblr.com/aa298a4b...tsdeo9_540.jpg Remember, Audi had a grille for a few years that went down below the bumper also. Didn't last long before it gradually got smaller again. |

While not great looking, I think it’s the kind of car where the colour makes or breaks it. It looks far better in the brighter colour than the dark green.

I can live with it on the coupe but the sedan is a no go. Don’t know why it makes a difference but it does. They should have left it for that i4.

At least it stands out. Every second BMW has a M badge on it now!
Have been in my relatives 2018 M4 and all i can say is that although not a huge powerhouse (TT 6), it gets all of it to the ground and gear changes were ridiculously quick. Not sure id pay 170K but it was very nice and refined.

I think they are going back to their heritage, which seems to be a popular move these days
look at a 1938 328 https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car...28/1938/160256 https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0819-38...28mm-roadster/ or a 1975 BMW 2002 https://imboldn.com/1975-bmw-2002-turbo/ Alfa Romeo Giulia is regarded as one of the best looking cars around and its grill is huge. The e46 looks good buts its very sedate they toned down the grill for a few years and they have become less aggressive in appearance, though they may have overdone it a bit I think its a good move. too many cars look the same

it it polarising but I'll pass judgement once I see one in the flesh.
One thing is for sure, a proper M is a nice bit of kit when your in the cockpit and piloting it around some great twisty rounds, rippa machines to me. bangm001 point is right, at least its a point of diff now.

Good gearbox ratios. Remember the corvette had a great 0-100 time cause you didn't have too change gears till just over 100!
Smaller and lighter than our Falcons which put out more power but never got it down to be usable.

It's also a little heavier than an FG XR6. They used to be pretty light, especially compared to a C63. Quote:

If you look back at the design changes that took place every few years early on in the automotive industry, there were some quite dramatic changes every few years. In my view some of the biggest appearance changes were between years 1938, 1946, 1955 and 1960. It is just incredible how different the cars looked every few years back then simply by facelifts or when releasing entirely new models.
If you look at the same time span of recent 10 or 20 years, yes new cars look a little different, but not by much. Almost boring how similar they are. The phone connects better the last few years, but who needs that. Cheers, |

I've watched a few Youtube clips on them now and really like the new look, the whole car is a good combination of curves and sharp edges.
The current X5M would look better with a grill like this - they need to stand out from the Msport pack

Joy of Joy's, BMW have unveiled this masterpiece today.
I just don't know why the hell BMW are doing this grotesque styling for?

I wonder if the styling is aimed at the Chinese market (Based on focus groups / trends etc)
BMW Now sell twice as many cars into China (their #1 market) than they do in the USA. They even make long Wheelbase 3 series BMWS for China.

That's the iX the new EV
certainly not my cup of tea form numerous reasons - checkout the interior https://www.caradvice.com.au/900312/...nch-confirmed/ these cars seem to be designed for the look at me I'm saving the world type Though there are better pics in the article and it does have 370kW from two electric motors, full-time four-wheel drive, and a 0-100km/h below 5.0 seconds.
