Im looking at buying a new mobile, and I need a bit of help from any mobile buffs.
I want a flip-flop / clamshell design, for around $400-$600. Does anyone have any preferences? Theres a few to choose from! Must have camera, dual display, decent memory, nothing too "Whoa" in regards to style etc. Cheers! |

Whatever you go for - make sure it uses a symbian operating system. Absolutely incredible.

I have actually heard a few bad stories with the v3, especially with the dismal storage...

What is it that makes the Symbian OS so good?

I have a Motorola V3 and it is a LEMON. Currently on my 3rd Replacement handset after only 5 months. The phone is certainly smart looking but the screens are dodgy, I have also heard others complain about the reception quality and also that they don't hold charge well but I have not had these issues. They do appear to be unreliable in general though. My advice would be to stay away from them.
This was the first time I have ever strayed from Nokia and I have regretted it ever since. Go the Nokia. |

I just purchased one of these for my wife, and am very impressed. I was not a fan of the flip phone, but I really like this one. I insisted she got a Nokia, as we have always had them and found them to be easy to use. One complaint is it does not use Bluetooth, as my 6230i has. Otherwise, its excellent! :sm_headba A mate has a Motorolla V3RAZR, thinks its sh1t, signal is crap, calls drop out etc. When I want to call him on mobile, I phone his wife's number!! :hihi:

The only bad thing ive heard of the 6101 is that the sound is not that good, have you noticed that?
Also, I was really firmly told by the phone bloke that the 6230i is the best phone for your money, feature-wise, how do you like yours, compared to the 6101? |

As for the 6230i, it is twice the phone the 6230 was! Better graphics, better sounds aside, the big button in the centre used to be a pain. When selecting the 'enter' part, it would scroll up or down unless you pressed it perfectly. Very finiccy. With the i, it has a seperate button in the centre, like the 6101, and is a breeze to operate. I would still pick the 6230i over the 6101, primarily because of the bluetooth. Can't fault either. Comes down to personal choice??

Ive had a Black V3 Razr for about 4 months now and i couldnt be happier with it. Havent had a single issue with it.....the black ones are pricey as they are Limited Edition but you can pick a silver one up for aobut $650.

Next ph I want is the 6680 (or 6670 if I can't afford it). The K750i (the latest one with the better megapixel camera) looks sweet too. These aren't flips tho.
Having bluetooth and USB connection is the sh1t. My 3650 with the bloody clock positioned buttons is pi$$ing me off.

Despite 3 covering "96%" of Australia, the call drop out rates don't tend to be favourable.

Sony Ericsson Z800, its a 3G phone (don't confuse with 3 network) so that will future proof it a bit and its a really good phone, I've got one and everyone that sees it is really impressed, 3 network do seem to sell this phone but don't be put off by people say that they are all , this phones lesser counterpart (vodafone branded crap) got voted best 3G handset and the Z800 has better firmware, would definately reccomend. You definately should be able to get one in your price range.

I (had) a Nokia 6170, it was a great phone and I liked it alot, however you might find it a big limiting in features (No Symbian OS or Bluetooth).
It does have 2 fully functional screens, (functional as in full colour, when taking a photo of yourself you can make the viewfinder project on the mini screen, so you don't need a mirror) and an excellent Camera with video, and these days is getting cheaper (~$500) |

mate ive had 5 nokias, 2 panasonics and 1 motorola... 2 screen issues with the Nokias which were fixed under warranty with no troubles, not one prob with the panasonics, but my motorola ed up after like 2 months and took another 3.5 months to get sorted out ..
the screen failed and was deemed not under warranty even tho there was no water pressure or physical damage or anything, it was purely faulty... my advice - stick away from motorolla ! |
