Hi guys, car won't turn over, it makes a sort of scraping or rore sound,
its not the battery I've changed that. must be the starting motor, my manual says i have to disconnect just about everything just to get it off, anyone done this an easier way. Baz |

Straight away off to the sparkie and get him to check it. They are almost impossible to replace so if it is the starter motor see if he can get a re-build for you.

Called racv this morning, for a tow, turnes out the car was just flooded, he said it was quite common with later model cars, so I'm very happy at the moment, but I have got a brand new one on its way from rockauto, so if anybody needs one let me know.

Baz, is the replacement the same part no. you have to be really careful as they changed them during the course their manufacture.
But good you are on the road again.

Well the part I ordered is for the 2001 model 2.5. from what I found out is that all the starting motors for this engine were all the same, the 2lt is different. Just in case this happens to anyone else it was making a sound like rubbing two pieces of metal together, the guy said its because the engine turns over so fast that it can flood, and of coarse trying to start the car without throttle a number of times made it worse
