This one surprised me and it is early days yet at 6 days to go...
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-AU-...YAAOSwPDdbCobV No connection to the seller. I hope these cars are finally receiving the recognition they richly deserve. Bill.

Wow, that price has shocked me, it's certainly up there, makes you wonder how legit the bid's are as I know very clean examples like that demand the high price tag but that high ?.
It's not a fully optioned vehicle either as the description suggest's as it's cloth interior. |

I saw this earlier and was quite surprised. Makes me wonder what mine is worth if this thing actually sells.
I have exactly the same car but factory manual and full leather interior, premium sound etc. and a few upgrades. Obviously mine has more KMs (188,XXX) but still 20K+. Wow.. |

19,000km on the clock, the seller may get the money he/she is after, one for a serious Falcon collecter imo.
cheers, Maka

I look at mine at times and wish it was another colour but then when I wash it and the dark metallic pops, it brings me back and I'm glad I picked it. Each to their own though. |

Nice car but the only thing making it very desirable is the kms (and hence condition). Everything else is quite standard, common and nothing special really to command that price.
Also 'Fully optioned' my behind. What was the Triplet then? Even that car wasn't fully optioned. Missing leather, Tickford brakes, premium sound and Satnav, not even close to full options. Having said that, i do think the $20k plus mark for nice, optioned, lowish kays examples of 220s are not very far away. I'd accept nothing less if i offered the Twin for sale and this will increase as time goes by. |

A bit off topic, however what is everyone's thoughts on the value of EL XR8'S?
I'm looking at buying an Option 20 that is super clean with around 180K KMs. Only downside is that its an auto. |

Bugs me when people throw around this "fully optioned" rubbish when they clearly have no idea.
Just because it's got two or three common options, it's "fully optioned." Yeah, it's about half way there... Maybe. No leather, no Premium Brakes, no Premium Sound, no SatNav... |

There will always be buyers who are blinded by genuine low kms, believing that even 15 plus years on, the car will be exactly as if it rolled off the line yesterday. My current low km 220kw AU had lived in a garage virtually unused for 8 years before I got it and I've replaced as many parts as a lot of owners that use theirs regularly. Most have been through maintenance, rather than necessary, but things still deteriorate over time. For the money this is getting, I'd be happier in this https://www.carsales.com.au/private/...-4200262/?Cr=0

The series II's with a build date of Oct97 and later with the 185kw engine would be more desirable I'd think. At least they get the GT40P heads, explorer inlet, decent extractors, etc, over the old 165-170kw HO engine. I'm not sure whether the cop cars predating the series II had that gear already. Do your research so you know what you're looking at - and to know if they're trying to feed you some BS as well. I'm not an authority - just my 2c worth.

For example, a Fairmont Ghia for instance being "fully optioned". NO, its standard for a Fairmont Ghia to be highly specified therefore its not "optioned". Or paint being called "duco", presumably from a old salesman who can probably remember when cars actually had duco.

I suppose for some of us that are fortunate to own a S2 or 3 XR8 this could only be good for the future of these vehicles. I recently seen a Congo Green S3 on Gumtree that sold for 16k within hours of the add being posted.
At the end of the day, individuals will pay the necessary amount as they deem fit for the right car that appeals to them. It happens all the time with Australian muscle cars and it will continue to happen, especially when a lot of the Ford parts start to dry up for these cars. |

Like what GasOlane has pointed out, many of us have seen the dodgy bidder win, can't produce the money, then the next highest bidder has bought something else or lost interest. With the costs associated with ebay now, I get why many on AFF have had a gut full of it.

This is getting really weird. Over $25,000, 3 days to go & the latest bidder is new in the game. If you were stupid enough to pay over $20k, time your bidding a little better maybe.
