Hi
My MK2 Focus Sport is coming up to the 80K mark and will be in need to its first set of Tyres. 215 X 50 X 17 The Michelins currently on it are fantastic but unfortunately nearing on $300 per tyre far too expensive. I am looking at Pirelli P1, Yokohama C Drives and the Bridgestone RE002 that are coming in at the $250 mark as I want the handling and wear of the OEM tyres. These seem to be the "premium" brand tyre which is what I am after. My question is - one Tyre Place suggested 225 X 45 X 17 as tyres are far more common the brands I am looking at and become cheaper - so what's the opinion on this .... Speedo might be out a bit ... Bit harsher ride....... Anything else? Thanks |

The OEM 215/50 have an OD of 648mm
The 225/45 have an OD of 634mm so they are a bit smaller. 235/45 are actually closer to OEM size at 644mm and even more common but your OEM rims may not be wide enough to suit them. Mondeos have this size on 17x7.5 wheels. The wheels on your focus are 17x7 I think.
