Default EF Fairmont fuel gauge

Hey guys,
May seem like a strange question, but i was wondering where the pointer will be when the fuel tank is almost completely empty. Got the car a few weeks ago and want to see how much i get out of a tank, but don't want to run out. Is it at the bottom of the little orange section?

I don't really trust the electronic thing which estimates how much is left.

Thanks.

my EF's gone to below the orange, but i don't imagine all cars can do it.
depends how accurate the dash is, if its been pulled apart etc etc.

I live my life in the red zone, i know that on my ED, the cars still got a good 100k's+ left in it when it just get's on the red. Driving the EF, i've never checked at how many k's it's got, but it's still got a fair while before it runs out, prolly around 60-70k's...

my gauge did the exact same thing, but my sender unit was stuffed, the contacts, werent, contacting.... replaced it and its all good now.

i hit the red today, so i filled up, put 58 litres in, so i had prob another 70ks left in there.

No, that's why theres a strainer in the tank and an inline fuel filter as well......

How? Fuel pumps suck from the bottom of the tank, all these 'grimey dregs' sink to the bottom anyway.

The problem with running the tank low is the fuel pump will overheat and die sooner, as they use the surrounding fuel to cool them down.
