Holden are having a special 4 day sale for the cyclone ,flood victims.
They might not sell many cars. BUT they are on the tv advertising dunnydores linked to the Queensland disaster. Holden are in the public eye, again. Maybe FORD should use the Simon and Garfunkle, song, Sounds of Silence ,as their theme song!!!!!!!

Think it's good ford isn't doing this. Seems like nothing more than trying to cash in on peoples misfortunes.

mmmmmm Havent seen the ads (nothing on their website), but you would think its a dodgy thing to do. Even if you were offering $500 for each car sold (and as i said, havent seen ad, so dont know how it is working), to go to the victims, it can only be seen as trying to profit at someone elses misfortune.
Far better for a company just to donate money to a cause, than to try and link it to a sale. |

Talk to any advertising guru and their philosophy is always to use the Ocsar Wilde quote.... ''There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is NOT being talked about". Will I rush out to a Holden Dealer and buy something?.........No, but we are talking about it though, even on a Ford site? |

if they where donating all proceeds from cars to the flood victims that would be a good thing, but good or bad you have to admire holdens advertising people, they never let an opportuneity go by.

We've got shattered lives... people have lost homes, loved ones etc... the last thing they'd be thinking is to go and buy a damn car!

Zzzzzz yet another Ford bashing thread... boring
You could have titled this thread "Ford wins in the morals race" . Unlike Holden, Ford haven't stooped to using natural disasters as advertising fodder. Personally I think it's a stupid idea anyway (the sale) |

There was a large used caryard up here in Brisbane that were giving you a car as long as you could prove the insurance cheque and payout had been authorized and was coming? Is that in poor taste, or just brilliant marketing? Honestly, still not sure myself? |

If i were to buy a car id go for a good cheapo car (up to 8 grand) because i just can not afford to spluge on a car at this time when i have to rebuild my house from the ground up.
Holden saw an opportunity and jumped at it...

As for the disaster, didnt Ford get a lot of exposure a year or 2 ago for something else after donating a few free cars? It may have been the fires in Melbourne. |

If done with sensitivity and taste, I would find it acceptable. Wouldn't reducing the price on new cars also be a form of 'donation'? Lukeyson

You must be talking about this.....
http://www.holden.com.au/latestoffer...alerMode=false You may notice delivery has to be by 28/1 but the offer ends 12/2. So much for Holdens brilliant marketing department. Compare it to this which is not limited to a 4 day sale and trying to cash in on the Queensland floods ..... http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Satel...apper&site=FOA I think far too many people on these forums look for any reason to bag Ford. Maybe time for a few of you to go buy a Holden.

What is the link to the Queensland floods, I just looked at the page and a SV6 is $36990 in QLD and VIC? Are they offering donations from each new car sold? Or is it the most under handed marketing scheme I have seen in a while..........

Just saw an advertisment billboard of the new terri on an over pass over a busy road towards eastgardens shopping center.
"The new territory is coming soon" with a pic of the new territory beside it. Looked good. So ford are doing ad's but not flooding us with them.

I am not bagging FORD..they have great cars, that don't sell for any number of reasons.
VERY poor advertising, dealers not up to scratch, servicing departments that are questionable etc etc etc. But If Holden want to take the low moral ground, so be it. BUT it gets the Holden name, talked about. Ford ?????? If Holden can sell badged Daewoos by the boatload, why cann't Ford sell the Focus ? Fiesta is doing okay. Mondeo ??? Falcon ??? Ford need to really advertise the Territory, when its released.AND when FG2 comes out needs to be better equiped than Holden. FORD are great cars..everything else is debatable.
