How much will this bumper damage cost to fix?

My parent's 2004 Mercedes... had this damage (crack) on the rear bumper for the longest time I can remember. I guess they figure the car is so old, why bother getting it fixed? But still, how much would something like this cost to fix? Does anyone know anywhere in Melb (inner suburbs) that they could recommend for a cheap fix?

I'd be thinking way, way more dollars! Depends on what one expects as a 'cheap fix'. But if it was my vehicle (I own a similar older Merc) I'd be guessing the job would include remove the chrome trim, plastic bumper repair (because a new bumper will probably cost too much in comparisson), sand bumper, paint undercoat, colour matched metallic + clear coat, refit chrome trim. Consider whether the bumper is better removed for repair or left on the vehicle? I suggest the OP needs to take it to a couple shops and get quotes.

Can you even get a "new" bumper for a 16 year old vehicle? I thought new parts are only made for 10 years after a vehicle ends production. That model ceased production well over 10 years ago. And yeah, $100 - not a chance. I think his comment must have been tongue-in-cheek. In my books, <$1000 is a "cheap" repair.

Good point! There are probably a few of these around in wreckers so a s/h bumper may be an option, but I imagine it would not be cheap (or import an aftermarket new one from the US, if not available in Aust.?)

Benz traditionally serviced parts for a good while.

However that’s repair territory. It’s minor damage as shown.

A mobile repairer should be able to put it on a horse (work stand) and do in the driveway with IR lamps. $400-$600 would be my guess based on the little we can see and presuming the substructure is OK.

Looks to be a C series and that's a common place to crack due to the shape of the rear bumper, but you can still get some new parts from Benz.

As others have said a wrecker would be your best bet.

I had a PDR guy repair something similar (prob worse actually) on my daughters Corolla a couple of years ago.
$300, mint job, all done at home in the driveway.

To have it repaired properly and repainted I would guess any where from a few hundred to grand, probably more, depending on what quality of work you want.
