Seems like you're taking this year pretty serious, Greg!!!
I usually just leave the pressures to what I normally use on the road...

There's not much tread left on my tyres this year so it should be heaps of fun.
Oh and if needed I can tow the club trailer up.

We are now opening the entries up to non-club members. If you are interested, please PM me with a few details about yourself. And also, an email address would be handy too....

Just spoke to GBG and it sounds like everyone is having a great time both on the Skidpan and the Back Track as well....................although it was a bit hard to hear over the tyre screeching on the skidpan.
Only wish that I was there as well but instead I'm up in Qld working (on a Sunday......... _ ) I know where I would rather be - and no its not in Qld today!! |

A little sunburn, a few broken cars and a lot of smoke made for a great day.
Thanks to all who put the day together. Oh and by the way, a great selection of tracks on the skidpan. Levelled the playing field quite nicely.

Hi All,
Lotsa things to say but only so much room...... I didn't get to video everyone - every time pecker73 came out I was too busy watching and smiling and forgot to video! - the fun he was having makes the day worthwhile.... MOTIV8 rang during the day and was having trouble hearing me over the tyre squealing – ohh, and Black TE50’s very sexy exhaust note…… There were a few local members, and Chris and Owen, who parked the pocket rocket when she lost her radiator contents, and finished the day in the GT! (And good news- it was a 20cent plug in the radiator overflow bottle that had come off and was still sitting on the trailer that caused the problem) To the helpers on the day - Vin, Steve S, 1600GT, the cookmeister, XR Lightening, Sam, L.A. Belinda, and the others who manned the chicanes, to the tongmasters, Anthony with entries, Trev who helped all day and just anyone who gave a hand - my heartfelt thanks.... BLKPhoon lets me commandeer his car everytime, knowing without a doubt it will come back the way it should (well someone has to do a reconnaissance on the back track), Cam Male let me take his for a run, Keithy who brought the trailer up, and of course Brute6 for his hard work and effort……. Vin was the VB challenge champion, beating Scott, a fellow 'phoon bloke in the finals. The sad part is every year we have lost money on this event… which will mean if we run another one, it will not be a “club” event – and the very possibility of being invaded (and quite possibly beaten) by a bunch of Datto’s (or any other marque for that matter) is a harsh one….. I’m keen for one early next year – but that’s only my opinion and it all comes down to the bums on seats theory……… P.S. Pics are going up on website now- if you have any please get them to me....... and I'm working on the video footage.........

GBG, dont worry about being beaten by other car clubs, I have to fend off being beaten but the better half..
Another great event, thanks to everyone who helped, especially those that did not compete but still managed to put in the hard yards. The weather was fantastic and we both had a ball. Looking forward to next year already :

Just second-ing basically what GBG has already said......
The day couldn't have run without all the helpers, be that on the track/skidpan or off it (BBQ). As the saying goes - many hands makes light work!!!! Thanks to everyone!! : Running more of these events would be sensational!! It would be ideal to have 3 or 4 Motorkhanas throughout the year, but, bottom line, we need to get more people to these events for that to happen. It was disappointing from a turn out point of view, but for everyone that was there, I know they had an awesome time, and thats what matters!!!!!! : : : : And just on a side note - thanks to Roland, Black TE50 and Pecker for the little play in their cars......... :

a big TA to the orgy-ganisers for the day. : and yep, i brokeded it... suppose a 40 year old diff that was noisy when i pulled it from another car 12 or something years ago, welded up in 2000, was noisier again after that, then has been flogged to death (literally now i guess) for the last 7 years, and been getting worse each time, has to go BANG at some stage... will be interesting to see just how bad it is when i pull it out, coz it didnt sound too good from inside the car, and the way the tailshaft/pinion moves around in funny circles in the housing(coz the pinion bearing has completely disintergrated...) isnt a great sign of health either... anyway, i'll just grab another diff of the shelf, weld it up, and see if i can get 7 years out of that 1!! :togo: |
