Bloody hell.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out last Monday and all up it cost me $1220 minus what I haven't claimed back on Medicare yet. Funnily enough, I had next to no pain.

i went to the dentist the other month, and i didnt need anything. So the lady cleaned and polished my teeth so the $90 it cost JUST TO SEE THEM was worth it.

They were pretty shiny for a while. Can you imagine doing you car with that little head on the polisher? Thats all i could think about when she was doing it.

I know someone who had 6 teeth pulled out without any needles. He was more scared of the needle than getting the teeth pulled.
And he was about 14 at the time.

$750 is way over the top. i work for an orthodontist and he reckons its crazy but isnt surprised. couldnt get a price cause hed have had to of seen your mouth but still reckond it was a bit pricey.

i went to a specialist had a tooth taken out through the gum. so 40 mins of that. 4 injections + 4 hardcore pain pills. and 1 hot as nurse. only cost $160.

$750, bit steep.

Next time, tell him NO!!!!!!

Feathers 6 teeth and no needle.

Well then, i know an elderly woman, who has such a high pain threshold, she had root canal done without drugs.

Kid you not.

A bloke at work is getting some dentist work done tomorrow on a tooth that cant be pulled out from the top, therefore they have to cut and peel back both sides of the lower gum, drill a hole in each side of the jaw then knock the tooth out through the bottom.

Then he has a misaligned jaw so they have to break it, then remould the inside jawline and the palate

I cringed just hearing it, i'de rather put up with it rather than know I was getting any of that done!

You could of said no to it at anytime, just do the tooth I came in for. Or if you were in no position to say no before work was done you pay only for the work you wanted done!!! Simple.

You've got to love the dentist... last time I went, I chose to have the tooth removed, rather than paying for root canal work. The dentist is pulling and tugging at this tooth, and breaks off one root, leaving it in the gum.

"Whaa appens ow?" I asked, with an anaethetized jaw.

"Well, you can go see a dental surgeon to have the rest removed."

When you've just had dodgy dental treatment, you can't even complain with dignity, ... it's bullthit!

I had a tooth removed from the middle of the roof of my mouth when I was 16, and it took 3 people to hold me down when I saw the needle.

A month after that I had a "bridge" cemented in across the roof of my mouth to stretch my top jaw so all the rest of my teeth would fit in.
It had to have a small key inserted and turned twice a day for 2 months.
I used to scream in agony when my parents turned the key, but after about a week I was just silent, which they said was worse. It made my entire face ache.
Having braces for 2 years after that was a piece of cake.

Three years ago I had 4 wisdom teeth out and some work done to the roots of my lower teeth. All under a general anaesthetic.

$2200 and a month of pure agony. God I hate the dentist!!

My dentist is pretty decent. Good price, explains the work to be done and goes the cheap option if possible. He drives a TR Magna (early 90's) and only in the last few years replaced the dentist chair he's been using for at least the 25 years since I've been going there. They only replaced it because they couldn't get parts for the old one. My Mum asked his nurse when he's going to retire - she said he says he can't retire as he feels an obligation to his patients.

Well mining threads is always fun

Had a tooth cut out today (12pm), number 6 on the left side they say, anyways, it had to be cut in 2, then ripped out, 2 needles, no pain, a few stitches, a lovely gap where a tooth belongs, and less then an hour, cost me $80 for consultation and $300 for the tooth to be taken out, well see how many $$$ the health fund comes to the party with next.

Spot on my friend. Busted a molar last year...

"Now, the preferred option is a root canal - the tooth will die, you'll need to come back 4 or 5 times and it will cost around $2000. Or i can pull it here and now for $100... but id rather not do that"

$100 and 45 minutes later i was back at work freaking everyone out with my rotten tooth in a bag

Something like $30 just for the anaesthetic.

Dentist's choice of weapon was a black 911....
