Default In Praise of Fuel...

I've heard a lot of whingeing and whining and complaining lately about the cost of fuel. Particularly today, while I stood behind a woman at BP who began berating the poor pimply 16 year old about it, as though he was going to say "Oh! Terribly sorry, Madam. allow me to take 50% off your bill..."

But I don't mind. I put $25 in the Green Machine last night before going for a little cruise. The car's probably been driven for 2 hours since then, and it was bone dry. So I went and put another $30 in today.

That's $25 for 2 hours. I challenge you to find me anything - music, food, wine, dance, recreational drugs, hot blonde strippers - that will give me as much enjoyment as my car did in those 2 hours.

Don't you just hate that? How old was she?

I figure now that since the petrol prices are going to go up more, stuff it. I'm over it. Just gonna enjoy it while I can.

I dont care what it costs really.. as soon as I get behind the wheel I enjoy every moment of it.
Nick, I'm on your side 100%. Give me a couple hours burning fuel and I'm as happy as it gets. The fact its expensive makes it all the more decedent.

I guess for people like us you are right Nick. But for those who consider driving a chore - that is those who put petrol in the "bills" column of the budget, not the "entertainment" column, it's easy to see how it's just another increased expense.

I completely disagree with the abuse of the poor station employees. It’s a mark of ignorance really – I’ve seen that happen before too and that’s before it hit $1

I agree. What are you going to do? not drive?!

$90 a week gets me 600k's of my favorite cd's at just the volume i like, nice scenery, sun on my face, cushy leather seats and the burble of a v8 cruising at 2500rpm.

*shrugs* better than riding a damn push bike!

Try a 1080 Holley double pumper and and the 2 hours fun becomes 30 mins.

2Hrs cruise in the BA away from city traffic, will do me fine. And I dont need a paper bag for my head.
