Default NEW Ford Falcon GTHO

I know this has probably been talked about over and over again but I think we should start a thread on what we would like to see in the new falcon gtho presuming that ford takes advantage of the upcoming anniversary.

I think it would be a phase 6 gtho as im pretty sure they built a number of xd gtho phase 5 falcons in the 80's.

Anyway what would we want in a new GTHO, personally I believe the HO stands for Handling Option not High Octane so I wouldn't mind seeing a heavily stripped down falcon losing all the luxury items like stereo, IRS, electric windows etc much like the Cobra R mustangs in america maybe even making it a 2 door.

Added to that racing brakes and suspension and most importantly sitting under the bonnet the 5.4L all DOHC supercharged V8 used in the upcoming shelby mustang gt500 good for 373 kw and 651 NM of torque and you would have a definate wet dream car.

Is this the same anniversary we're talking about here- http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...highlight=40th ?
Or is it a HO anniversary?

Ford have nothing in the pipeline to do the HO name justice.
It would need to better than it's opposition by a big margin.

A lot of people car about GTHO's thats why they are half a million dollar cars and I think by releasing the 40th anniversary GT Ford is warming us up to it.

I dont believe they would make any money off it but it would be the hero car that Ford needs and would force Holden to release the HSV 427

HO stood for handling option

also there was never a factory phase V falcon.only some wacked out xd body kit from a small manufacturer

there just isnt the same reasons for ford to make a HO today as there was back then.

I think a 300kw/900Nm twin turbo 4.4L V8 diesel with a 100kw/1000Nm electric motor bolted on through a 6 speed Holinger gear box (a new one that can handle this much torque),
giving a total output of 400kw(equivalent to 600kw petrol only) and close to 2000Nm, with a combined fuel economy target of 10L/100km

I know it will never happen in this day and age.

But personally I would like to see em stick in a worked Fuel injected 351 Cleveland.

Failing that I reckon they should build the Boss 290 up for forced induction and make it spin to 7000Rpm and fit twin screw charger to it. The Ford GT engine is but it really belongs in the ford GT not a Falcon.

Rear engined, rear wheel drive fiesta, would have to use the ubiquitous supercharged V10 engine, carbon fiber muffler bearings and green blinker fluid

This thread looks like lock material.

Has anyone ever contacted Ford about this ? Would they even consider it if there was enough 'interest' ?

It would be interesting to see Ford Aus' response, even just to see if they would call the BF GT-P or the F6 the modern equivalent.

The 40th anniversary GT is nothing more then a different stripe package on an optioned up GT. If this is the best FPV can do then I for one hope the GTHO stays on the shelf. The FACT is unless it could outdo an M5 or E63, the reputation would be ruined. Another fact is neither Ford nor FPV can afford to spend so much money to develope such a focused car in any sort of numbers. And if I had the choice of spending nearly $200,000, because that is what the new GTHO would cost if it could run with the big boys, on a car I would be unlikely to buy a modern GTHO. I think this one should be put to bed.

how could u do this and still call it a falcon?
how is this possibly in keeping with the falcon / gtho image and feeling?

the gtho's were giants in their time, and i love the look and sound of a great gtho, but part of the attraction and feel of the gtho is that they were ahead of THEIR time, not now.

i personally think that holden forever tarnished the reputation of the monaro when they released a modern equivalent of it, and i believe that the same would happen if ford tried the gtho thing again.

leave them be.

Isn't this GTHO option thread number 957837738484378348734.

This topc has been done to death. The HO was something special, straight out of the box. With all the technology available to ford today, they would have to do some very special. Like give it wings and make it fly.

By the same token, how can people expect a gtho that puts out 5 billion killowats, is made out of unobtanium and runs a milk crate for a seat to save weight, all for a retail price a 5yo could buy with his weekly pocket money?

The fact is that my (tongue in cheek) suggestion is as equally viable (and just as in keeping with the GTHO memory) as the crap which gets trotted out by the usual suspects every time this thread gets yet another rerun from a well meaning but poorly informed member.

The GTHO as we knew it is dead, and to resurrect the name plate will only result in a large group of members trolling through the threads calling for the head of whomever is in charge at ford/fpv at the time for destroying the GTHO nameplate with whatever it is they hapened to roll out of the workshop.

Please, let the nameplate rest in peace!

I think putting the GT's (Ford GT Alloy Block 5.4L supercharged V8 410kw 678nm) engine in a falcon is waaaay over the top. Maybe just a BOSS 302 (Mustang), R-Spec suspension, brembo brakes, Goodyear Eagle tyres would do it good! Maybe put the body on an aluminium diet!

Well with the recent history Ford has shown, if they ever did attempt a GTHO version, then I would expect the car would most likely underperform, get whipped by HSV and not live up to it's name in any form.

It will be like the early 80's 6 cylinder Mustang all over again, which is, funnily enough, another Ford product.
