Default Car rego costs per state

Hello, wondering what the various Rego costs are in each state of Australia. The sample car would be a Ford Territory. Cheers.

Country or metro? Us simple country folk get a discount on our rego to the tune of about $100 less here in SA, so I can't really say what the rego is for SA as it may vary due to where you live. Having said that, I think my EL is about $600 a year and that's for a 6cyl engine. Metro area would be closer to $700 for the same car I guess.

Therin lies a good reason to shop around for CTP.
I have just paid my rego, 10 mins ago, my fee for a 6 cyl. XG Ute...$846.20 .Registration fee the same, CTP $371
Not a huge difference, but $34 better off in my pocket than theirs

My rego comes up in mid-October for $999.50 for a BA XR8 Ute. That's a tough one to swallow.

Insurance companies in Qld put a tender for the CTP business to the Qld Govt every 6 months., so the premiums vary depending on which company and what 6 month period you are in. At the moment I think they have all tendered the same price, but it can vary usually by $10 or $20 between companies.

So what you do, is 3 - 4 week before your Qld rego is due, go to the Qld Govt CTP premiums site, check which company is offering the cheapest premium, then change online to that company. A new registration paper will be posted to you with price adjusted to your new CTP insurer.

You can thank that slimeball Beattie for that. He orchestrated the huge jump im rego costs by linking it to ... the road toll???????

Said that V8's are faster, therefore do more speeding, therfore kill more people so should be punished. And 6 cylinders are only marginally slower so we'll ONLY charge them $800!!

And people vote for these types of morons.
What can I say?
