Question How long can she run for?!

I wrote off my EB the other week and plan to get her running enough to get some decent doeys out of her before I get rid of the old girl...how long can I run it without a radiator for?? And what would I have to look out for when doing this? Don't really care if I cook the motor but how would I re-route the transmission oil lines?

Question 1 - 4 minutes 36 seconds
Question 2 - Police
Question 3 - Just block them off

There was no question 4, but there should have been

oddest thread of the year, it came late but it got here.

if you're planning to destroy it, why on earth are you concerned about timeframes?

Will run for ages with no radiator. just crimp the transmission lines, or connect them to each other with a piece of hose.

The head gasket will blow after a while but that won't stop it running. It'd probably take half an hour or more to seize.

Cut sick!

without a radiator, and being thrashed, it'll overheat and seize up, most likely within a few minutes at best.

With heaps of clearance due to high mileage ..
I would 20 to 30 minutes depending on engines load etc...
Incoming fuel etc does have SOME cooling where it's needed...
The bottom end will last for ages. Till it runs out of oil...
Assuming engine is in quite good nick...
The accessory shaft may cease first which with break the timing chain, bend valves...

I remember years ago at a wrecking yard owned by a friend of mine in Sydney, a Friday after work amusement used to be to start an old clunker, put a brick on the accelerator then sit around drinking a few beers and betting on how long it went before detonating. Surprising how long some of them went for.

Have an old 202 torana paddock basher. Overheated, kicked No1 rod out the left hand side, luckly it broke the little end and big end. Removed the rod, stuffed a rag in the hole amd off she went. That was two years ago and its still going just gotta be carefull when the oil drips out, tends to start grass fires lol

On my brothers 18th we tried something similar with a mates VR commodore paddock basher and took bets on how long it would last. The commodore lasted around 6 minutes on the limiter with no water in the radiator (cracked side tank) before we turned it off. Since the exhaust runs straight out of the cat it got that hot the carpet melted inside the car and was beginning to catch on fire so we ended up turning the car off. It had flames shooting a good 2 metres out behind the car and burnt a decent patch of the ground.

It didnt even sound like it was struggling and would of went a lot longer if we let it go but didnt want it to burn to the ground. Probably still goes now just havent checked it since that arvo. Good fun though

Oh that's right I need a spot to do it yet!!

Yeah if you're revving the tits off atleast have some sort of fluid in it circulating. May as well get as much fun as possible out of it -

visit a local wrecker and pick up a crappy lil radiator for $20, even if the fronts mangled, just chuck it on lol

When my ED XR6 lost its fan belt its temp gauge hit the limiter heated within 5 mins of very careful sedate driving. Found a place to stop luckily so didn't do any damage thankfully.

Because the engine was in pieces, so I had to put it back together. So you reckon at least some fluid?
