Hey everyone,
well, as we all know the world is in a major crisis. Hence I thought that maybe we could all have some fun and raise some money towards the cause. So to cut to the point, I was looking to organise a crusie with as many clubs on the 16th (or 23rd) of January. I've got backing from the Australian Red Cross for such an event. My proposal is that we meet at a venue (open for discussion) and cruise to a place where people can enjoy a picnic and a day at the beach (being summer). Not looking for a long drive, but somewhere where we can raise some interest and more donations. Why the Red Cross? I've been in close contact with my mother who is assisting in the region, in specific a region near Chennai on India's East Coast. She tells me that while other organisations are doing their part, the Red Cross seems to be ahead in the relief operations and have more efficent logistical support than others. I end here with the floor open to discussion regarding this proposal. If you would be keen to help with a little organising, please contact me on 0433 12345 7. Tell everyone. Please contact as many clubs as possible (as a starting point, car or bike). This can not be an individual effort!! Thank You for your time. Sincerely, Kieran Pradeep. |

no reason we couldnt have one in each state i guess!
sounds like a good idea to me - we will be having a cruise in victoria on the 16th anyway, so we could pass a hat around and donate to the red cross for sure dave

I'd be interested in coming along. I've also made a post in the 3FB section so that the regulars there know about it.

Your gonna need contacts for each area? Logistics will be pretty big. Especially if you want to maximise donations.
The other thing this can help to achieve is to promote safe and responsible driving. More P Platers and young people that get involved in this, it will help to show that that even thou your a P-Plater, your not always a menace on the roads. They say that the donations are going to be needed for years, so I suggest someone decides on a nationwide date, contact every ford club in the country and organise it. Do for a couple months time. Anyway, these are a few idea's |

I've contacted the Kawasaki club I'm member of. I've also looked at Bikers Anon, Sydney Knights, LS1.com.au... I'm trying to get as many as possible. True, there is no real hurry. If we do something really well, with all states, I'd be happy doing this sometime in Febuary. The thing is getting as much money from people while the issue is still hot. Human nature makes us slowly less involved in events as time goes on. Thats why I was looking to coordinate something big and fast. Hence why I'm asing for as much help as possible.
Also money is needed now. Even though it will be on going, there is a shortage now! Its amazing how little can make so much a difference. For example, my mom is trying to set up stoves and housing for people who have been left homeless. its costs $4.20 per stove and $1250 per house. I wanted to ask people to donate $5 on arrival at least and then you'll have the most people giving more. Some good points Bucknaked. P Platers, heres your chance to get your HI PO cars a crusie safely for a good cause. I will be contacting Tody FM and NOVA once I get some ideas finalised. Any idea for a location guys?? Keep em coming guys. Kieran. |

Contacting radio stations is a good idea.... as would contacting the local authorities!
A meeting venue should also have prior approval from the site owners/local council as I don't see them too happy about a stack of cars showing up. On that note, if there is something being planned for Melbourne I'm more than happy to put my hand up to attend and assist in organising... but I'm with bucknaked, the logistics of organising many large car clubs would be too much for one person! As for the date, I don't mean to sound rude, it needs to be sooner rather than later. Although I doubt the red cross is going to reject donations the victims of the Tsunami need help now. But, the thought of a simultaneous nationwide cruise to help the victims of the Tsunami is absolutely mind blowing!!! Just try keeping me away! |

Sounds like a great idea. Let me know the details if you would like the E series members around the country who do not browse the forums to be e-mailed.

ok... guys, I'm keen now with the responses.
The 23rd seems like the date to do it giving us time to plan this better and organise ourselves. 3 weeks is ample time with some effort to get this going in 3 states (NSW, VIC, SA) and the ACT. Hoops has said the ACT boys and girls will be up for it. Now all I have to do is coordinate all the forums I've asked to work this together. I will be going to the Summer Nats this weekend and am looking if someone can help me raise this idea more, flyers or such. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Kieran. |

oh yeah, and for a starting point, Bankstown square is my suggestion. Plenty of open area parking to setup and not too long a drive up the M5 to the beaches!!

For the Melbourne side, consider contacting the bike club who does the Toy Run to the Children's Hospital each year. Perhaps the schedule and route from that could be entirely copied with their permission and input?
Is consideration being given to doing this nationally on the 23rd? Or is Melb going it alone? Dave, count me in to help organise. |

Hey all.
well, ls1.com.au have taken to the idea. They are in and now it looks like even Darwin might be in. Excellent! Ok, now here's the deal. I need someone to be a main contact for the next 3 weeks in each state. Its just for organisation sake. It would be much easier to have a single contact in each state to check on progress, it doesnt mean that that one person is responsible for the entrie event. If you'd like the challange, please contact me or put your hand up here and I'll direct you to the networks I'm building in each region. Kieran. To the mods, any chance of making this a sticky please?! Kieran. Last edited by kypez; 03-01-2005 at 12:14 PM. |

I would strongly suggest that we get the authorities involved. An escorted convoy would really raise awareness.

I'm linking everyone from other forums to this link. Tough part will now be to separate each state. Guess we can run together till we need to break off into individual regions. Thanks Guys and Gals. |

ok... for Sydney, I propose we meet a Silverwater. We then cruise the northern suburbs and then head south to Stanwell park. Plenty of room for a BBQ, fun and games and most importantly, FUND RAISING.

will try contacting Krispy Kremes. Been told they do a lot of charity work (cheaper boxes) and they are bound to be a crowd faviourate. Any ideas for BBQ guys?
And is everyone happy with Stanwell park as a end point. Plenty of parking too? I'll contact the local council if everyone agrees. |
