Smile Ford to return to Formula 1 with Red Bull in 2026.

“Well this is pretty seismic news: Ford will return to Formula 1 in 2026 as a technical partner of Red Bull, having last featured in the sport way back in 2004. Yowzers!
This is a huge moment for F1 as Ford remains its third-most successful engine maker in history (alongside former subsidiary Cosworth), with 176 wins, 10 constructors’ and 13 drivers’ titles to its name. And that’s despite missing the last 19 years and having not powered a team to the championship since Williams .
Explaining its decision, Ford says F1’s growing audience numbers - especially in the US (thank you Netflix) - as well as its commitment to hybrid power and sustainable fuels, are the main reasons behind its comeback.
“Ford’s return to Formula 1 with Red Bull Racing is all about where we are going as a company – increasingly electric, software-defined, modern vehicles and experiences,” said Ford president and CEO, Jim Farley. “F1 will be an incredibly cost-effective platform to innovate, share ideas and technologies, and engage with tens of millions of new customers.”

The last team they powered to a championship was Benneton in 1994.

hmmm it'll be interesting to see how much "input" Ford have considering Redbull make their own engines.

Not yet they don't, the below is what is forecast/planned to happen but 2026 is a long way away

Red Bull Powertrains, abbreviated as RBPT, is a Formula One power unit manufacturing company owned by the Austrian Red Bull GmbH. The company was formed in 2021 to take over the operation of Formula One power units developed by Honda from 2022 onwards, following the Japanese manufacturer's withdrawal from the sport after 2021. However, Honda continued supplying the Red Bull owned teams in 2022 and will do so until the end of 2025. Honda assembles the power units and provide trackside and race operation support. The power units remain Honda's intellectual property, and due to a development freeze, Red Bull Powertrains will not develop them.

Red Bull Powertrains will take full responsibility for engine supply and operations from 2026, when the company will be renamed to Red Bull Ford Powertrains, following a partnership with Ford Performance.

When does Max's contract expire? He'll have a couple of years in the new engines when it changes to Ford.

Wish it was another team though. Maybe RB will withdraw from 888 by then so I can support them in F1.

Red Bull has confirmed reigning world champion Max Verstappen will remain at the team until 2028 after signing a new contract. The five-year extension is reported to be worth $55 million a year, moving Verstappen level with the figure that Lewis Hamilton is believed to earn at Mercedes.
That contract extension was done end of 21.

Not that he'll be there for sure till 28 mind you, I'll be surprised MB or Ferrari won't make an offer unless they have a car and driver that knocks him off.
