Default Drag racing Efforts

well Fellow AU chaps. i flew the AU flag down the 1/8 mile and i even beat a BF GT-P.
all in all i was pretty happy with how i went. i did better then i thought.

best time of the day was 9.574 @ 75.44 Mp/h but consistantly ran between that and 9.8 out of the 6 runs i got for the day.

my best reaction time was .180

as for car prep i stripped the whole interior which was a waste of time. i also dropped the exhaust after the extractors and took out the head light. these where worth doing. a few people asked me what i had done to it. so that to suggests that i went alright

unfortunately the only photos i have so far are some i took when i was prepping the car. i had no1 to take photo's for me but some mite appear on facebook.

I couldnt do that to my AU for just a few tenths. Full street trim is the only way id do it. But as always, thats just an opinion.

Very good effort Day-mow Cant wait to see 1/4 mile efforts.

Cheers guys. Scotty your right. No interior made no difference. Droppin exhaust and front light out the car was hitting rev limiter so fast!! It was a docferent car. So much more lively. If only I could drive it on the street like that. :(
What should I look at for a 1/4 mile comparison. 60 or 330 ft time?

I have a side pipe for mine. Unbolt exhaust extractors back and bolt on side pipe. Only bad thing is it sticks out a little too far and I've burnt my leg a few times getting out. Spits flames out the side too.

good effort. do you think it was actually quicker dropping the exhaust, or just sounded like it was?

my time slip say's 1/8. if not would be 660ft i guess.

exhaust/no head light deff made a difference. it reved out soooooo much faster. i was hitting 6k in no time.

Nice work their bloke,not a bad time at all.Making more power with less exhaust suggests the current one is restrictive imo.It will be quicker with a matched full exhaust for your combo.

Doing to many changes at once means working out 100% for sure what gave you the gain alot harder if you get my drift.Looking at @15 flat 1/4's if you get the run right which is good going for mods.A second of a stock BA turbo Auto.

thanks man. i assume it was mostly exhaust dropped. yeah i'll admit current exhaust probably is a bit restrictive but its legal. i wonder how much difference no cat would make on the street. but its not worth changing.

Good effort I must say! Interior is a fair bit of work but I guess the results depend just how far you take it. Although a cleaner run will net the same gain.

The best I have managed is a 9.46 at 72.99. Which has allowed me to do a 14.85. Judging by your speed I should think you would go at least as quick as that. Which for the mods you have done would be very impressive.

So when are you taking it down the full 1/4mile??

thanks.i donno really when. or if thats gonna happen. living in SA there isn't a 1/4 mile strip here so its not really an easy thing to do. but im kinda keen to hit up heathcote next year for Drag Nats (assuming the forum does it again) but will depend on money and a lot of other things. 1/8 mile is all i'll be seeing for a while

You should definitely try and come over for the ford nats. I know it is a fair drive from SA. But you would not regret it!

N/A cars usually add 5 seconds from 1/8 till the 1/4 and 18-20mph .


Which would put you at 14.5-14.6 and 93-94mph .

As for stripping weight , it does make a difference . Each 100lb you lose you drop 0.1 from your 1/4 mile or 0.05 from your 1/8th . Whilst not worth much , each bit counts in the end .

SPare Tyre , Jack , Front passenger seat , rear seats , empty window washer resorvoir , any tools .

say 20kg , 2kg , 15kg , 15kg , 3kg . 55kg = 125-130lb ???

Not that hard to drop 1 tenth down the 1/4 when you look at it like that .

Then using lightweight rims even better . They say each 1kg unsprung weight is like 7-8kg .
