Does anybody watch or care about this camp, androgynous event?

Its good for a laugh, but I reckon its becoming more mainstream the acts now.. less crazy stuff. I think because there is a lot of money/fame/recognition at stake and countries seem to be taking it more seriously or something.

They just said that Australia is the largest viewing audience outside the Euro zone.

Go Armenia & Kazakhstan! You've got love it when a bloke gets up there dressed in drag & singing falsetto while wearing a beard, old Tiny Tim will be shedding a tear from up above not for the falsetto voice but the beard & no ukelele!

cheers, Maka

I only saw a bit of Friday night - highlights for me were Latvia with Cake to Bake, and the man in the hamster wheel (the manster wheel).

Used to watch many years ago when we had Graham Norton's commentary - these days our local commentary doesn't do much for me, but the viewer's tweets get the odd laugh.

You seem to be confusing Eurovision with 50 Shades of Grey and Twilight.

Eurovision used to be good when the contestants sang in their native language. It was an event designed for countries to display their best talented musicians and singers. And it was better when the scoring was done by professional judges from the participating countries, not the popularity contest voted by the plebs it has become. Now it has much less variety of music styles and winners are usually those who provide the biggest shock value, not their ability to write music/lyrics, sing/play and on stage persona.

It's definitely become more X-factor/American Idol-ised, I won't disagree with you there.
And it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
However, it's not compulsory viewing, the contestants have fun, and it's a bit of entertainment that's still better than big brother.

Eurovision is great. First time I heard Pirate Metal was on Eurovision. It opens you up to different styles of music and yes...it is good for giggle value too.

Forget the X factor...it has the...... What the hell was that! factor...

Cheers
Col
