Default Rockauto shipping costs

You might find this funny, but I didn't, went to rockauto looking for a new grill, i wanted to fit a round emblem on the front, anyway they were $31,went to checkout shipping was $608.51, using usps, so I went to ebay usa, brand new one $33 and $69 shipping using usps, go figure that one out,
I have sent rockauto these details hoping they will look into there shipping policy.

Baz, this doesn't sound right to me. Their shipping cost is factored around the size of the item. When I bought my new bonnet their shipping cost was rediculously high so I had it shipped as cargo through a freight forwarder for about a 1/4 of the cost.

Something is not right.

Join one of the forwarding agents
rocky mountain auto have one on their site , joining is $5.00 or so and will cut the freight by at least 2/3
Google for who does it if unsure

I've not long contacted Rockauto about their shipping as well, not that I wasnt happy with the price but I was going to do a large order of one part (group buy) and wanted to see if they could do any better on shipping.

The reply I got was that their shipping costs are calculated by FedEx as soon as you put the address in and that they have no control over how much it costs, so unfortunately you probably wont get much help from them in that regard.

I still reckon they're one of the cheapest and best suppliers I have found though, my AU V8 has parts listed on there for less than 10% what Ford AU charge and that's even including overseas freight.

b2tf I am with you on that and totally agree. When I had my accident and needed to get a new bonnet I got them to arrange delivery to my nominated freight forwarder in Los Angeles and shipped it over by airfreight. The FEDEX cost was around $3500.00 but in the end I got it to Sydney for about $500.00. Of course it helps that I am in the freight business so it was no problem for me but still it was relatively easy.

Rockauto just got back to me , they dropped there shipping cost on the grill down from $608.51 to 58.95,grill was $30. might pay to check there shipping cost next time you order. this is there email

Dear Barry,

Thanks again for your email - and thanks for the updated dimensions; looks like our dimensions may have been on the large side. I have updated them - please check shipping costs again, I believe you will like what you see.

Also, and again, our shipping policies are to charge exactly what we get charged. Shipping is never free and other websites that offer free or discounted shipping simply make up the difference by inflating the costs of their merchandise (something we do not want to do).

Thank you,

Zach
