Default Fiesta WQ 2007 AirCon issue staying cold

Hi All,

Very recently my poor old Fiesta which is being replaced soon but staying within the family is having issues with the AC.

The issue is that it is unable to maintain cold air while the engine is idling.

Without AC on it would hold 800 RPM no issues.
With AC on before it would hold around 1000 RPM no issues.

Now, Its going to 1000 RPM making a loose belt noise for about 3-10 seconds cold air is coming into the cabin. Then RPM hits 1200, noise stops, and warm air starts coming in. It will then cycle between the two.

Now while driving constantly its somewhat able to hold the AC on. But from time to time while driving you can actually feel it turn on/off. If you maintain a constant speed for a long period of time it doesn't seem to have any issues.

Any ideas?

The belt squeal noise indicates that you've either got a loose compressor belt - or that the compressor itself has maybe got a bearing problem.

That does make sense but then wouldn't it always be making a noise while the car is running and not only while the AC is on?

The Radiator started leaking and the Fan stopped. Replaced both and now suddenly the Air Con is working.

All solved.

hi side pressure was most likely going Hi enough to cut A/C out with fan inoperative but ok when driving along as you then have airflow thru radiator and condensor -
radiator may have failed due to no fan operation
