I30 or a Ford Fiesta

Any thoughts on what I should buy

A I30 Hyundai desiel 4.3 L/100kms $22650 on road

or wait and get a

New Ford Fiesta desiel not sure of the 5 Doors price

What peoples thoughts

The i30 is a great value vehicle though.
The Fiesta all round is a better package, but the i30 would probably offer better 'value' basically...

Do your own 'bang for buck' analysis, looking at the standard features...

Top of the range diesel i30 is by far worth it, great little car packed with kit, its half a class bigger that the fiesta too and would be more comfortable.

Who's it for? If it's for you I'd get the Fiesta, because they're a really fun drive.

Hyundai seem to be turning into another Toyota, very reliable and do everything you require of a car, but not all that exciting. The diesel is very economical!

$22K on roads a bit pricey isn't it for a little Hyundai? I think a Getz is about $13K - if your just looking for a cheap little car may as well save the extra $9K.

It's all based on size. Fiesta is smaller than the i30. If you value size, i30. If not, fiesta. Simple as that i think.

Since the i30's a diesel, go the Fiesta. Apparently those petrol i30's are not unly fast, but also unbreakable.

i30 is the next size up. Good car in its class.

Fiesta is the best car in its class. Buy that if you don't wan't / need the extra space.

Do buyers really cross-reference these two cars ?

Not comparable in my opinion.

If, however, I HAD to buy either I would take the Fiesta and remove any reference to "Fiesta" from the vehicle.

They are nothing like similar in size! In Fact I would say an i30 is slightly larger than a focus. Certainly seems like it from the inside. Elantras are the same car, just with a boot, and are much wider inside than a focus.

What do you mean by this? Fiesta basically means "party", implying it is a fun car. And Fiestas have only ever had good reputations I thought.

Toss a coin

Heads you get a pig ugly car with a decent 5 year warranty, good fuel economy, reliable, a touch cheap and nasty in a few places but a good all round A to B car not to mention very comfortable and not a bad drive either.

Tails you get an equally pig ugly car with a questionable 3 year warranty, not as comfortable, less performance but arguably a better quality fit and finish.

$22k is actually great value for money. Best warranty in the land and a decent looking car as well.
In saying that, the Fiesta is more fun to drive and looks better again.

I think you will find that the Fiesta competes with the Getz, and the i30 with the Focus. So although Ford is dearer in both circumstances, they seem (?) to have a better quality reputation. Which is laughable because Hyundai are making massive inroads with their new range of vehicles.

We have an i30 and love it. We tested all other in the same category but the i30 was worlds above the rest.

Don't forget that the Fiesta Econetic (diesel) will be the most fuel efficient car in Australia when it launches soon. 3.9L/100 is the whisper... Add that to the class leading dynamics, bluetooth, cruise, iPod support AND German build quality... I reckon the decision makes itself.
