Default I6 - V8

ok here is a Q for the brainiacs:

Au Falcin I6 engine crossmember is it the same as the V8 one?

planning on bolting a windsor based engine into my I6 and i am quite hoping that i dont have to manufacture new mounts (not that it is hard)

I think you'll discover they have different cross-members.

Easiet way to tell would be to ring Ford Parts and see if they are listed as different part numbers. On the EF/EL the engine crossmember (K-frame) is the same for I6 and V8, and you would think that they'd carry this through, but stranger things have happened.

The K-Frame was not carried into AU from EL - they went to an alloy cross-member with other front end suspension changes.

I should have re-read that. I meant that they would have carried through the compatibility between I6 and V8 componentry on the same vehicle. AUs do have the alloy crosmember, and we discovered this morning that it is the same for the I6 and V8 in an AU, like the K-frame is in an EF/EL.
