Be aware, of what you buy, rust will be a killer in a cheapy, you would think, you dont get a whole lot for 50 bucks lol, maybe buy one with a decent body, if they are still around, and one with decent drive train, otherwise it will turn into a money drain. One thing i have learnt over the years, is i will never be doing what you want to again, it costs to much, for what you get, and it a pain in the backsdie.

he got it for that price because it was from a relative, it was pretty good condition, but needed an engine....
they're around, ive picked up a Fairmont to use as a daily driver, it needs some work but only cost $350, and had only 170,000km on it, again, that price because it was through a mate at work.... looking for a car for under $1000, you really have to expect it to be a basket case, and just maybe you'll get lucky and get something worth doing up... |

Its just a matter of keeping your eyes and ears out,
I have a mate who makes his living buying EA-EF's, and taking them to Alice springs and selling for 10 times what he pays, He wont pay more than $500 for one, and has just taken 5 up there, spent 3 grand, sold them and a couple of trailers for 25k... So yeh, they are out there, just look around.
