Wow, I think it's worth every cent of 200k. Sure all the the plastic GT comments will come but it is a GT and it was the first plastic GT made.

I'd pay $60-70k on the basis of it being mint and dealer kms. The prototype moniker holds little value for me but no doubt it will complete someone's collection and they'll pay more.
Nice car. |

I always thought P stood for pre-production, not prototype. Still a rare car, not sure about 200k rare though.

200K gets you a lot of car, at both new & classic ends of the scale.
Im not sure a BA GT will ever be worth that much

mines now a barn find and a 1 of 1 (its now stored as of last month)
just add some barn dust in a few years and have a story of how its also mentioned in AMC magazine along with Ford's letter of authentication I might buy my next house with the profit my GT won't be sold anytime soon i'm keeping it to hoon about in my retirement

In the immortal words of Darryl Kerrigan, "tell him he's dreaming"
I'm sure it would be worth a fair bit but 200k is pushing it. You can get get classic GTs for less.

200k? kidding me? There is naught special about the car.
People laughed at HSV charging less than that for a W1.

No doubt a significant FoA vehicle and apparantly kept in showroom condition.
But $200K is a big stretch. The modern plastic classics just don't age as well as the old ones do.

Wonder if he’d consider a trade for the #1 XU6 Prototype?

200k may seem like a bargain in 20 years. But it's not 20 years in the future yet.

my 3y/o kid has no interest if i drive her about in the GT or the FG XT so i drive that instead, when she is older things will hopefully change i'd like to think its worth $10k more than what i have paid (i got it cheap) but its cost more than that to keep it in good condition, last year i spent about $5k on parts, rego and insurance, my FG cost me $4500 with 12 months rego including putting XR6 goodies all through it

The car certainly has a great story, whether its worth 200k is debateable. I actually have a copy of the DVD mentioned above.
Here are its glamor shots from way back when......

It'd be desirable but not sure if I'd part with the price of an okay house for it yet . The really exxy one will be the last run FPV GT-F's . There's a few bucks in the bank at some stage in the future for anybody willing to part with it I reckon.

We all know the most collectable GT's are from the 60s & 70's. Sure there are a few special releases like the B series Cobra & the BF with black n gold stripes but the rest will never see the prices of the originals. I doubt any Ford nut would pay $200g when you could have a genuine XW GT & a BF GT Cobra instead. Like anything else, cars are only worth what somebody is prepared to pay on the day.

Well that brings back awesome memories for me, I remember them driving around, filming a commercial around Warwick when they were first released. I loved the new shape, so I ended up buying one in the phantom colour without the stripes as above. My first brand new car, and to this day regret selling it.

Walkinshaw recently sold for 340k.
I think he's testing the waters with 200k Not the same cult-following. |

Going on four years on since they finished and a sample of the GT-F's .
https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/for...evehicles/gtf/ . Greatest respect to the BA GT and owners but I think these will represent a better investment over time . Still wouldn't say no to a real nice BA GT though, just not 200K .. |

I honestly don't think the BA on offer is that much differentiated from the rest of the pack to command such a premium price . Yeah it's the first, and it's hardly been used but big deal plus its an auto :-). If a good investment is the attraction then buy real estate, not cars.

His ad aint aiming for most of us.. Hes aiming it AT the guy that bought the Walky for 340K, and the VK SS for high 200s and probably the same guy who has a barn full of other rare museum quality cars already.. There is something special about seeing an un touched, unabused performance car though! Really special stuff right there.. 200K.. If you can earn that within a few days/weeks then why not..
