Last night 7 news showed a teaser that they'll be showing tonight they reckon they have had engineers doing fuel testing and apparently somehow they can get ur car running for less than a $1.00 per litre.
I dont know what their on about but its going to be very interesting? My partner was forced to buy a new Corolla hatchback about six months ago and Toyota told her to run 91. 1.6 litre 6 speed manual and that car is REALLY economical. I reckon she's getting about 800k's per tank it's so good. Mind u the Toyota finance is going to take about 7 years to pay it off and they have very reasonable capped price servicing. |

Wait you thread title says cheaper petrol, but your post seems to imply it's a modification to the car. I'm confused. Anyway, 15 years ago when fuel prices rose astronomically, the newspapers were reporting there would be a new technology called GTL (gas to liquid). In other words, making petrol and diesel from natural gas instead of crude oil. It was supposed to be around 5 cents a litre. Still waiting for it!

Ye I don't know what they're going to come up with?
Apparently Propane is becoming popular in the U.S? What are the prices like over there? I've watched the youtube clips about the new F-150 EcoBoost and a custom tuner said theirs a propane conversion kit but it was something like 10k!!! Not really worth when the V6 EB is so efficient already??? Quite a few F series trucks in Oz have huge LPG tanks (250litres per fill) in the ute tub right up the front. |

If they don't sell petrol for under $1.00 per litre how can they get your car running for under $1.00 per litre. I think you meant to say something related to kilometres per litre but you are confusing?

Interesting to see if this story is for Sydney as we get different stories sometimes And i doubt story be on due to the bombing in England Has happened before when stories advertised and been bumped But had a hire car Corolla 2016 with CVT and ended up being about 1.1Litres less per 100km then my V8 on a recent 800km drive Hills are killers for the cars especially doing 110km/h on cruise control

A bit off topic but still relevant. Does any body test the accuracy of fuel bowsers at petrol stations these days. I seem to fit more fuel in at my local Caltex than I get in it at my local Shell.

Alot of taxis in Oz are now Toyota Hybrids and they still convert them to SVI LPG and save about $500 a month on fuel costs. Trump has said climate change is a hoax so I guess he's still happy to burn oil for now. |

O.k so that was nothing like i expected.
All they did was test a Hyundai with a modified fuel tank and poured only one litre of fuel into it then drove three different cycles. Heavy, moderate and light......Figures were as to be expected. Driving lightly/smoothly doubled the range compared to heavy driving.......duh! Modern EFI engines can still pump plenty of fuel in if you give them a foot full which is great because sometimes you need that power. And as we all know stop start bumper to bumper is not good for economy or brakes. Not a single mention of which RON fuel was used? |

And that's what annoyed me most about the milk wars - they were charging more per litre for bottled water than they were for milk. And it wasn't the corporations who suffered....

Easy, don't pay the fuel excise and there's your sub $1 fuel.

The only way to pay less than $1/litre is to buy it at a lower price.
Did they perhaps mean $1/day or something? I could have used a lot less fuel on my drive today if I sat on 80 rather than 110, but sometimes you just need to get where you're going. |

If you filled your car very slowly so the fuel stream from the pump nozzle was about the width of a cigarette, the meter would not register as accurately as a fuller flow, and you could indeed gain some free unmetered fuel. Last edited by GO FURTHER; 24-05-2017 at 08:13 AM. Reason: Spelling |
