Default Gotta watch 9 news tonight

Just saw a highlight for tonight news and there had a MINT what looked to an XC coupe heavily rear ended.Look like a tough car with roll cage and all.

Damn. Maybe the driver of the ute was admiring the XB and forgot to stop. I hope it wasn't written off :(

She said she tried everything to stop her car — slamming on the brakes, turning off the engine, applying the emergency brake, shifting out of drive — but none of it worked.
these stories always puzzle me and i guess, until you are in that situation yourself, its a bit harsh to pass judgement, given that its in most peoples nature to panic and then rational thinking goes out the window.

having said that, unless there was something else happening, i fail to see how putting it into neutral wouldn't work. i understand that if it was a diesel, then killing the ignition may not work and due to the high speed and stuck throttle, the brakes struggle to work, but surely whacking it out of gear.....

anyways, glad it ended well for her.

Ive had the throttle stay open before learnt never drive a blown car early hours on a cold morning luckly it was in a bucket so you could lean over the windscreen and manually pull the throttle back.

At the end of the stories they always seem to stop with the brakes somehow as well. Chase Weir did the same thing in an Explorer.

That stuck throttle story in the US does remind me of Chase Weir's (very easy name to remember) situation in his Explorer. It turns out in the end all he needed to use was the handbrake but was in too much distress to try it.
