Time to stock up on the REAL SIMMONS wheels from Ebay, they are about to become very rare collectable and expensive. Once Tempe starts to make dodgy ones.

Yup. The tooling won't stay in Australia for long then, which is a shame.

Tony Simmons manufacturing was produced offshore and finishing completed at the Sydney factory whilst in business.

I was lucky to purchase a set just before they closed :

To be honest with you I would rather Simmons wheels die a peaceful death and remain top of the line rather than to be reincarnated into something that they are not...

I'm just glad I have Simmons on my beast! They are the duck's nuts as far as I am concerned.

There you go then.

I was under the impression they were produced locally, and I stand corrected. Thank you for clearing that up.

I too had been told they were just an assembly shop in the end, they did do the painting and polishing and assembly but no actual manufacture, this is not gospel through only what i was told by someone looking at buying the tooling

If theres any company in this country that can pull the simmons rebirth off its Tempy
they would be about the only wheel company that has the $$$ to do it properly

I cant see why Tempe Tyres owning the patterns/tooling will mean quality will be bad, if anything it will be better

Look at their new building does it look like they do thing in halves?
I know some of the wheels they import/stock are somewhat lacking quality but you get what you par for but they also stock some of the most expensive wheels on the planet

I think that this being a Tempe Tyres project and will possibly carry their name, there will be no expense spared

I have it on good authority that they have the patterns (code) and will be CNC machining copies from billet. Quality should be just as high if not higher than before. They will be done locally if what I hear is true

Shame, I heard the old old boy was throwing in the towel a while back. Its great that the rims will continue to live but its like Mechano in my eyes - It will never be the same again.
Excuse my ignorance but was Simmons only big in Australia? did the US embrase them? I just looked at the Simmons Wheel website and basically all it says was - "Im retiring, thanks and goodbye - contact retro rims."
I LOVED his V5 rims with the middle multi gloden spokes and the chrome outer trim.
My dream would be to own a muscle car/hot rod with these rims.

From what ive heard they wont be called simmons, wont have simmons cast into them and wont be badged as them either, although the original simmons wheel caps will fit.
