Anyone who watched the AFL GF AND still reckons NRL OR NRU is better than the AFL, I can give you a psychiatrist's number for an appointment.
AFL is the best game of FOOTball in aussie. Rugby should be called run ball or throwball because the foot rarely connects with the ball. Good on the Eagles and the Swans for a very entertaining 3 hours of FOOTBALL. |

Although in AFL you do kick the ball, most of the time its being held by the hands.
Soccer is football, feet only. Maybe it should be called 'hand bounce kick ball'.

Entertaining it was, but it just watching yesterdays game made me realise again why I prefer Rugby League. To be a superstar in AFL, all you really need to do is kick straight and catch the ball. The fumbling around on the ground, dropped catches everywhere, and generally mistakes every 30 to 60 seconds is a real turn-off. In the Rugby Codes, you make a mistake and you 90% of the time pay with a turn-over, same with soccer. In AFL, you make a mistake such as a spilled catch, big deal, the chances are the bloke behind you will make one as well. And for all of those who say, why don't you play the game before you pass judgement, the answer is yes, indeed I have played the game, never again. Would love that psychiatrist's number, I should report him for bad practise, and get him (or her) de-registered.

So in AFL wou only need to be able to kick straight and catch?
In rugby, you only need to be able to run into each other and throw backwards. Hell your guys have trouble kicking a ball 25m from a fixed point on the ground. between 2 sticks.

Its called football cause in the good ol days the pompus ones used to play sports on horses. Anything where you run around yourself was classed as football.

mate just look at judd, kerr, cousins, embly, wirrpunda, chick.... and you will see that its not only fumbling etc it is skill, its the players that arent as spectacular that make it seem like that, untill you see judd bounce the ball while running around a man, or cousins evade two of the opposition by pure skill and what about wirrpunda? picking up the ball with one hand while in mid air and hand passing it in-between a blokes legs straight to chick? thats just pro. im not dissing rugby as i dont mind playing it, but footy is my game and a very professional one at that.

its funny tho, when a rugby fan goes to kick a footy, they have this unco style and may (max) kick the ball 40m, ugly but 40m max. when an AFL fan goes to drop kick a ball they can do it well because it used to be part of the game. i know that i can kick a drop kick 50metres, and well beyond with a torp, and then we have to mark that....AFL=huge amount of skill to be good...

MAte all we have to say is that the AFL will always draw bigger crowds then any NRL game its a joke Ive gone to a few storm games its like watching country footy and only goes for 80 min.
The victory get more people to a game then most NRL games

Cricket is Australia's favourite, and indeed, is our national sport. However, the crowds can be minute. Same can be said in India and Sri Lanka. England isn't much better. I don't pretend that the NRL will ever be the biggest game in Australia, im waiting for Soccer to take that mantle. In England, it's the northern game, and it's the same for Australia. You can keep your soft game, we'll keep ours.

Ohh did I start something or what !!!!!!!!!!!!
I am from Perth and live in Brizvegas, it annoys me how much press etc League gets compared to AFL. BUT the Briz Lions get double game attendances to the Broncos. I support everyones right to follow what Code they like. BUT in Q its heavily biased to League when AFL is better supported. Broncos NIL Storm 30 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
