EL Ghia 8 gets my vote and surely part of buying a car has to be so you can impress all the members of fordforums.com.au. (hehe)
Low Km(86,000) one at Adrian Brien Ford looks good for 15k. Seen them as low as 12k but they have higher K's. Last edited by JADED6; 08-01-2005 at 03:27 AM. |

I spent ages looking for an EL Ghia V8, and good ones are hard to find. Most of them have done 200,000kms and are stuffed, and when you find a good low km one they want way too much money for them. I gave up an bought a EL XR8, but they aren't easy to find good ones either. I was very tempted to buy an NL Fairlane V8 as they are as cheap as chips and seem to be fairly easy to find good ones as old blokes usually buy them and look after them.

Here's my biased answer. Go the EL! I got a low kilometre EL Ghia V8 in August last year and it was the best thing I ever did. The car is so nice it still brings a smile to my face every time I slide into the drivers seat.
Having said that, the NLs are every bit as nice so if you find one with low K's and in good condition you should definitely consider it. |

It all depends on what you like and your needs.
i personally prefer the NL over the EL. But thats me. the NL is a big car.

NL for mine. Both are fundamentally cruisers at heart, and on that front, an NL in black with chrome 18's and dropped a few inches would be the ticket. A bit more unique too, but I suppose that there aren't that many Ghias with money spent on them either...

dunno would be a verry hard choice to make.
i think id go the NL, and fit an EF Ghia grille with mesh inside the opening ALA NL Fairlane by Tickford any of the dark metalic colours..... lowered over a set of 18 or 19" bonspeed clutch wheels......... hmmmm drool |

EL Fairmont Ghia over the NL Fairlane. I like the Fairlanes, but you miss out on some of the niceties of the 'Mont... ie: standard Leather, Prem Sound and XR6 motor

he's gonna get a V8, so the xr6 motor isnt a problem
NL's had standard leather (NF had velour with optional leather, whereas NL had standard leather with no cost option velour) and factory stereo's - even the factory premium sound - suck, so getting a fairlane is even better bacause he wouldnt have to go chasing a single DIN radio surround |

A Fairlane By Tickford (FBT) would be the pick of the bunch without a doubt but hard to come across. A LWB EL GT ;)
You can't go wrong with either of your choices, but it does depend on your needs. The 'Mont would be a bit more nimble around corners. |

I'd go the NL as well but then I'm a fan of PimpMobiles and have been for years.
Cheers Russ

Both are very nice cars. The EL will be better equipped unless you go for the FBT or other higher model fairlanes. Go with which ever you find with the K's you're after and the price you're happy with.
