Default Actuator and door lock issues

Hi guys,

I have a S1 Classic and have an issue with central locking not working by remote.

Manually locking and unlocking works fine no issues at all.

Previously when I have done actuators usually it beeps and you pull the handle of one of the doors and it unlocks you know which actuator is gone.

Problem I have is when manually locked all doors remain locked.

Is this still an actuator gone or maybe battery related (its about 3 1/2 years old and I'm waiting for it to go one of these days)

Cheers,

Chris

Hi sounds like a remote control problem, flip open the case and make sure the battery is ok of if the car is responding to the remote the problem will be the drivers door or a relay in the bcm. Cheers MD

This is the sort of question I'd expect AFTER replacing the battery! 3.5 years from one battery is pretty good going - I replace mine when they only work when I'm within 2 metres of the car; a good battery should see the remote work from around 10 to 15m away.

Yeah checked and replaced the remote battery still same situation.

Boot unlocks no probs at all. so possibly drivers door or a relay.

Thanks

Sorry JC I should have specified main battery ie 460cca one.

I know some cars can do some very weird stuff when battery is about to pack it in.

The other interesting thing is that it did this same thing about a month back and it just went away. It's really odd.

Do you ever get water in the passenger footwell? If so, you could have water dripping on the ECU and/or BEM. BUT, before trying anything, I'd reteach the remotes to the car and see how you go:

1. Turn car to ACC. Make sure radio is off
2. Press rear demister button 3 times in 5 seconds - door locks should cycle
3. Press any button on one remote
4. Repeat step 3 for all other remotes
5. Turn car to OFF position.

Now try the remote - it should open/lock the doors.

Nah never get water in any of the footwells but will try reteaching the remotes and see how it goes.

Good part is at least it still manually locks and unlocks with key.

Let us know how the retraining goes (and remember, you must do all remotes in the same training "session").

Hi SirHenry, did you work this one out?

I've got the same problem. I'm guessing the motor/spindle in the actuator has gone but I don't want to replace and find out it's something else.

Cheers

hey have just had this problem as well. My interior light was staying on and car wouldn't lock. Have had actuators go on me before and thought this was the case again. Couldn't work out the problem after hours of testing each door lock and anything electrical, finally worked out that it could only be the bcm. Got a rebuilt one and installed re programmed everything and car locks again and all working fine.I was lucky as my neighbour is an auto elec and he saved me heaps of money with helping me work out what was wrong. We also fixd heater as the plastic rod had broken which opens the flaps. It is a whole dash out job and very expensive in time if you don't do your self. Any way if locks still going up or down then you should look towards the bcm and anyone else who's car does strange things and then ok again it will be bcm as well. cost was 450 for bcm reco then your labour. good luck.

Yeah what turned out to be causing all the weird crap was that it was both driver front and driver rear door actuators stuffed.

Replaced both and now fine and dandy and just been on a 1600km round trip with no issues.

Long Live AU Falcons!

If the remote is working the locks will cycle when you press the button "click click click". If this is the case then it is definitely the actuator. If not, it is the remote and possibly the actuator as well.

First lock the car manually and check that all doors are locked. Then see if you get the 'click click click" sound when you use the remote. If that is the case it is the spindle in the actuator that is broken but there are 2 different types of spindle. You can pull the actuator apart to determine which spindle it is and then buy on ebay for $30 or save yourself the hassle and buy a reconditioned actuator on ebay for $70. There is a guy on ebay called jimmybean who I've bought a couple off lately and been happy with.

its a possibility but if it turns the lock probably not. this is a brainteaser.did you replace the accuator with a new one as a used one can be faulty. you could also ask your local auto electrician.when i had my door locking problem my local auto elect new what the problem was

I have had a similar problem. I have retrained the remote efter putting a new battery in. It works for a while but then the door lock button will cycle up and down three times. I can open the door but its very annoying. Anyone know what the cause / solution may be?

Im experiencing a similar issue with my AUII falcon forte.

When i lock all dorrs with remote or key. The front passenger door can be opened when you pull the handle from the outside. Which then unlocks the whole car.
Other doors if you try to open dont open. But the front passenger door opens if you pull the handle.

Has anyone had this issue?? Also does anyone know what the issue is and how to fix?
