Just thought i would share this .My Au series 1 aircon used to work and the the light would go out and would blow hot air it was the standard aircon not climate control.Found out cct board was damaged the solder on the on/off switch was cracked so i resoldered them and it is as good as new $8 for the solder was alot cheaper than the $300 ford wanted for a reco cct board

thats the fault . what happens is the switch is mounted to the cct board and flexes when you press the button and eventually cracks the solder .Let me know how you go fixing it or if you want any advice.

use this thread to get the centre fascia panel off http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=95787
then take off the air con vent and then there are 5 or 6 screws holding the air con control pop of the back of the unit and then there are 2 small screws holing it down. once the screws are off you can see the circuit board. don't forget to prise the knobs of lol. I had a similar problem ended up getting another one from the wreckers (ftg) but had to take that to an auto elec to fix. hope it all goes good for you
