hey guys my friend has a series 2 au wagon i6 it over heated on him last weekend due to the Welsh plugs letting go so i replaced them for him went to start it and nothing just the clicking of a relay when turned to start position. (the car started fine after it had over heated) and i have checked the starter motor to see if it turns over which it does, all fuses are fine and ie tried switching relays but nothing! can anyone suggest anything?

When you tested the started motor, did you bipass the solenoid? Was the battery disconnected at all, and I'm assuming the battery has enough charge as well?

although when i finished the welsch plugs and filled the radiator and went to start it it made a clicking noise as if the battery was flat so swapped battery with my car and since that nothing! everything else works just wont turn over. racv has had a look at it and they have no idea.

Check your fuses under the dash. I seem to remember there's one under there that if blown will stop the starter from activating but I can't remember which one.

When you turn the key to accessories, can you hear the fuel pump? If you don't, then turn the key to accessories, wait for one minute, turn the off and try and start the car. As these cars are getting older, the wires insulation get old and brittle and can break without even realizing, so keep an eye out for that.
You could also loosen the fuel supply line, see if any fuel spills out and also check for power at the ignition coil. Let us know how that goes.
