Default No reverse 2011 Zetec diesel mondeo

Hi All,

I am big Mondeo fan and have been in the game from since 2013 when I brought my first Mondeo from Surry Hills Sydney. It had about 60k high way kilometers on it.
I loved driving my mondeo every where and on long drives mainly. It has 288k at present. When I was in Adelaide I did a transmission services for the first time which I guess was a big mistake as they were not transmission specialists.

In mid last year I heard some kind of sound coming from the bottom of the car. I also felt jerking or stuttering on the signals. Sure thing after few days car would not engage in reverse. I did not receive any messages on the dashboard re transmission or anything.
I have read some online forums and figured out that transmission is gone possibly.. and I end up buying patrol Mondeo but believe me its not fun to drive and thirsty on fuel.

I have changed the dpf couple of years ago and got an aftermarket one. I probably have an old battery. would could have gone wrong here? is the transmission gone or something else?

If its going to cost me a lot to fix transmission then not worth it but everything in the car is tip top and car was well look after.

First get the on board diagnostic. There's a connector behind a lid on the lower RH side of the dash.

Forscan is free and will access the TCM module if you have an adapter (see the Forscan forum for info on that) or

a mechanic would do it for $50.

Hey mate, well the car is not starting now.. its making knocking sound from the engine so alternator is gone I think.. dont know now if its worth buying and paying for alternator installation and then finding out the transmission is gone :(

Geez sorry to hear, you could remove the serpentine belt at the alternator and try to spin it to see if at least it's operation is the noise and failure point. If it seems fine, you could charge up the battery and try again, if you have a battery charger or can get hold of one. At least that wouldn't cost you anything other than your time.
