Default 120.8rwkw!!

Just thought i would report on how stoked i am at the latest results from my car! Chris from Bluepower put an edit into it and it now has 120.8kW at the wheels! Not too bad for a car thats basically stock still! Below is a link to a post in my workshop thread with the dyno sheet if anyone is interested. Cheers

Thanks guys, i am pretty wrapped! I did go to the Nats today, but the conditions were terrible and i was waaaay off my PB, by about 0.5sec! I could only manage a 16.2 for the day, which sucks cos the car felt a lot nicer yesterday just driving around. I think i will really need to get a trans cooler now that the shifts are a bit firmer. The next move performance wise will have to be an exhaust system, but that will have to be a few months away,

Dont mean to rain on your parade, but I think 120rwkw is a little on the low side.
But like its been said 83081 billion times before, dyno's lie.
ET's tell the real truth, hopefully next time you will get a run without the headwind and you can see what the Edit has actually done.....

Another thing, what is the go with the AT and IT.. looks a little shifty to me.

normally u do the tuning on the fly, ie do the tune by stepping through the rpm range bit by bit and adjsut mixtures accordingly. then when you are happy with what you got, you do a power run and look at the overall AFR

I dont mean to be rude or anything Stiddy, I'm just curious, how do you reccon its low? Have you seen other stock standard auto AU 6's pull higher numbers? Also, not that i know much about it, but whats shifty about the temp's? If it looks hot, all i know is that it was a warm day on friday.

Hey Henri, did you get a run in before the exhaust? If so, what was it?

Your too kind Daniel!! I put it down to the rubbish tyres i had on the back. That and holding it in 1st, it doesnt seem to like turning any higher gears. Dont suppose you got any shots of my car at all?

Thanks Linz, i need an exhaust badly! I will be poor for the rest of the year, but at least i will have a smile on my face!! : As for the cam, its only a road car, so i am not wanting to go that crazy on it.

Actually yes I have seen some cars make the same power totally stock, usually from what ive seen stock auto AU I6's make around 115ish rwkw. In my eyes you've really only gained 5rwkw. Which to me is a bit low from an Edit. Agreed with LG though, you will get more from it with headers exhaust and re tune.
I said it looks shifty, look at the difference for christ sake, they are two seperate temp sensors...one lives somewhere in the dyno room (ambient), the other can be placed where ever the dyno operator wants it (ideally in the intake pipe/airbox), with an NA set-up you would expect little to no difference between the two... generally speaking, higher temps mean a higher "correction factor"....i.e. higher dyno reading.
Has that fixed your curiosity?
All I can say is maybe you need to get an explination from Chris as to why the IT is so much higher than the AT, and what it might mean for your overall power reading.

The temps have raised some eyebrows because they are so different. Temperature is a big part of the "correction factor" of the dyno...higher temps generally meaning a higher correction factor/dyno reading (humidity and barometric pressure also come into play)

- AT is supposed to be ambient temp in the dyno room
- IT is supposed to be the temp of the air going into the engine. Ideally (?) between the dyno fan, and the front of the car.

So what does this mean for your dyno graphs? Well not alot at all without knowing some more information.

But in a nutshell...if the AT was the same for before and after runs, and the IT was the same for the before and after runs, then it means bugger all as the correction factor would have been the same for both (all else being equal).

Some Ford 6's might pull a few KW's than others stock. But with Pacemakers & 2.5 Redback you could add another 10-12rwk's so I think 120.8rwk would be about right for a car with a few Kms under its belt. At the last dyno day at Hallam you would have got a 2nd in the 6cyl class. Its a good result you have without the exhaust system.

Thanks buickman! That makes me feel a bit better, not that i needed to. I always was, and always will be, stoked with the results i have. Its not just the power figure, its the whole feel of the car on the road. Chris also changed the shift pattern for the trans, and like i have said before he definitely knows what he is doing, as it just feels more lively. For a street car it feels great to me. I am happy, and thats all i care about.

I also thank stiddy and xr8ute for explaining the whole dyno reading thing, as i have no idea! I do agree there is a big difference in the temps, but i am sure there was some reasons for that. From what i have read though, not all dynos are the same, so i think if i put my car on a different dyno it may pull different numbers. Then again, everything on that car is original still and almost 100,000kms old, so i dont doubt it is less than other AU's around. But i am not finished yet, hopefully i will get the exhaust sorted soon enough, then i can just enjoy it!
