Default I may be coming to Melbourne after Christmas

Hey Mexicans,

I'm thinking about driving to Melb for a few days after boxing day. Will probably be staying with some relos at Chelsea.

I've already been told to head to Portsea Pub of a night. Any recommended restaurants or places to eat? Cruise hotspots apart from Chapz? Any forum events between Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th? Best kebab shop in town?:evil_laug

Whats it like driving down there eg toll roads etc. Are speedcameras noticable (signposted) like up here? I know about the 3km tolerance :(

Anyone want to catch up we could organise something.

Chelsea to Portsea pub is a fair drive if you are drinking.. Best Kebab would be in Carlton "Lambs" Cruise Hotspots well it all depends....best advice is NOT to speed in Vic...cameras are everywhere and NOT signposted....Toll roads are clearly marked but mostly NOT in the area you will be staying. The Casino is a must, not for the gambling but for the entertainment factor, eye candy everywhere and almost anything you can think of under one roof. Chapz is OK just better to park somewhere and walk it, enjoy the cafes and MANY bars along the route...also Parked cars dont normally get a canary....

Will probably sleep it off in the car and drive home in the morning.

What are the BAC restrictions for P-Platers. Would I follow the NSW 0.00 limit or the VIC one if there is more leniency.

Cheers

NO P Plate is ZERO and Christmas period there will be Mobile and Booze Buses Everywhere...Also remember in Vic, they sometimes have the Booze Buses out at like 10 in the morning to catch people still hungover from the night before....

St Kilda, Fitzroy, Carlton and Prahran all have pretty bustling night life and nice restaurants & shops, off the top of my head.

There are quite a few nice pubs along the bay.

The Royal Hotel in Mornington on the Esplanade has a great view, Kirks Hotel next door has a great deck overlooking the bay and good tucker.

Waves Restaurant in Frankston is right on the beach. If you drive down from Chelsea, turn right at McDonalds in Frankston and its and the end of the street on the left. Good food too.

Portsea/Sorrento is a fair hike from Chelsea, but worth having a look at.

In Melbourne you won't struggle to find a good restaurant, Fitzroy St is quite cosmopolitan and busy, as is Lygon St in Carlton.
