i used meguires cloth and trim cleaner when i bought my xr8 seats and it worked a treat. I used one of those foaming ones first an it made it worse!!

ive had good results on velour with the polyglaze upholstery cleaner otherwise one of the industrial wet dry vacs from the supermarket with the correct cleaner works very well.

If you're really keen, you can actually take the material off and and chuck it in the washing machine. Its fairly easy to do, pull the seats out, flip it over and you'll see the material is nothing more than a cover and is just held on with metal clips.

Get the thing steam cleaned. I've done it twice to my Fairmont and it comes up brand new - seats, doortrims, carpet, carpet mats the works. You even get the new car smell back!

Mine never looked dirty either but on both occasions the water came out black.. and this is from a car that has never been eaten in, smoked in or ever seen the sole of a dirty shoe.

best way is to wait for a hot day, rip all the seats out of the car, mix up some washing powder in a bucket and scrub the crap out of them. Then once you've done that, blast them with a high pressure cleaner. Once they dry they'll be like new!

Another vote here for Meguiars - Cloth & Trim cleaner
Make that 2 votes (split personality)
Seriously, the stuff is extremely good.
Quite easily removed long term black grease marks from velour ghia seats in my last car.
