Well, after yesterday, I'm now waiting to see if the second U2 Vertigo show in Melbourne goes ahead. I've seen the experiences already posted here, but I didn't do so well as some of you. :
Manual demon dialling on the phone (lift handset - dial - engaged - toggle handset button - redial button - engaged ....), mobile (dial - engaged - auto redial - wait for phone to give up...) and hitting the computer ("This site is busy to retry click here" click...click...click): didn't get through on any! Perhaps U2.com membership would have been worthwhile after all for the 'priority ticketing'. : I'm sure some of you have a lot more experience than me. : As someone who hasn't done this for a while, what is the best way to get your tickets? Is the old 'queue at the outlet from 6:00 AM' method still the best? Are there other techniques for the internet or phone bookings? What's worked for you? :

There will be second shows for U2 in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland. details are on u2.com
This time i will be lining up at the local ticketek outlet in the early hours to get tickets, not even going to bother worrying about the internet or phone as it was completely use less yesterday trying.

Yeah, lining up is the best way i think, well it depends, if you can line up infront of everyone else then you'll be in luck. When T.O.C was here we lined up but got there to late, by the time we were at the front of the line, the GA was sold out :(

Im not sure how it all works, whether the likes of ticketek set aside tickets for Internet seperately to the old fashioned way of buying at the shopfront. I'll be getting the mr's to try the net while I'm lining up for the second show though.

Lining up is a great idea. Only if you camp out though.
Luckily Melb and Sydney get extra shows.

Join Ticketek and or Ticketmaster7 and you usually get first in preference on tickets, and info on tour dates,it is still a bit of a lottery as to where the tickets are and you still need to be infront of computer @ saletime but better than braving cr*p weather. Theres no charge for joining. Showtime.com.au is another site that sell tickets but they usually sell accomodation/ticket packages. I have found these OK for two people but start getting expensive for families, when you are better off looking for separate accomodation. They also sell tickets but they are usually dearer than through Ticketek etc.

Well, got my tickets by standing in line (about 7:00 to be around 70 in the queue - keener ones had sleeping bags and chairs!). Had them in my hand at 9:37. :1syellow1
The lady in front of me had her sister and cousin on the phone and the internet (one each - separate locations). They both got though to get tickets when we were about halfway to the counter. They just missed doing the simultaneous purchase trick mentioned above, stopping just short of the final 'confirmation' click on the web page, after the phone purchase was completed first! She stayed with us until the counter while making absolutely sure all was okay. |
